Nine Sports Broadcasting

Masters streams on 9Now.

The Masters will be on the main channel tonight for eastern states from 11pm. This is to accommodate the earlier tee times in Augusta. On Gem in the other markets.

But this tweet says The Masters will start early tonight on 9Gem in all states? Nine programmers have no idea.

The EPG isn’t reflecting this change, but coverage is currently airing on the main channel (and therefore, HD on LCN-90) here in Sydney.

There will be forecast of isolated thunderstorms in Augusta.

With US Captain Tiger Woods back in form the tickets should sell out and the television ratings should be good.

SUNCORP SUPER NETBALL

SATURDAY, 27 APRIL 27 3.00PM & SUNDAY 28 APRIL AT 1.00PM

Australia’s premier netball league, Suncorp Super Netball , returns this Saturday, April 27, LIVE and FREE at 3.00pm on Nine and 9Now.

After an electrifying finals series in 2018, Suncorp Super Netball’s third season will again showcase the best netballers from Australia and around the world.

Netball fans can follow their favourite teams and enjoy four live games a week with coverage starting from 3.00pm on Saturdays and 1.00pm on Sundays on Nine, 9Now and Telstra TV.

Fresh from her appearance on The Block , former Australian netball vice-captain, Bianca Chatfield , will be joining Nine’s commentary team along with Collingwood netball and AFLW star Sharni Layton .

Queensland star and golden girl of netball, Laura Geitz , who led the Firebirds to back-to-back premierships, will be on the sideline, bring her expertise and expert comments to the coverage.

With a knee injury keeping her sidelined for the season, Abbey McCulloch of the NSW Swifts will take time out from her captain duties to provide insight to the coverage as a current player. Megan Anderson , a former Diamond and current Australian assistant coach, will also join the on-air team.

Hosting all the action will be Clint Stanaway , Aislin Kriukelis and Julie Snook , joined by these expert commentators: netball legends Liz Ellis , Cath Cox , Annie Sargent and Sue Gaudion , plus Nine’s Seb Costello and Tom Rehn . Sideline reporters will include Paddy Sweeney and Jack Berketa .

This season there will be a four-week break between Round 9 and 10 as the competition’s best netballers travel to Liverpool in England for the Vitality Netball World Cup 2019. Nine will exclusively broadcast the World Cup live and free from Friday, July 12, on Nine, 9Gem and 9Now.

Nine’s Head of Netball, Keeley Devery , said: “After a thrilling Grand Final, an exciting trade period and a long pre-season, I couldn’t be more excited to see how the third season of Suncorp Super Netball plays out on Nine.”

Former Australian captain and Nine commentator, Liz Ellis , said: “Season three of Suncorp Super Netball is the most exciting yet. With some fantastic international players and emerging young guns taking to the court for the first time, I cannot wait to call all the action.”

Nine broadcast Suncorp Super Netball in 2018 to exceptional ratings and a new legion of fans, culminating in an action-packed Grand Final which saw the Sunshine Coast Lightning going back-to-back to defeat West Coast Fever 62-59.

Suncorp Super Netball will also be broadcast this year on 9Now, Telstra TV and the Netball Live app.

So the NSW and QLD state rugby league games on Sunday are being moved to 9Gem to accommodate the netball on the main Nine channel.

Netball is at 1pm/ State of Origin is at 8pm

He’s referring to the State league local competitions in those respective markets. Nothing to do with State of Origin.

oh yeah, my bad. I misread it.

Not sure what’s going to happen in Qld and NSW on Sundays then. One will have to move to 9Gem.

The EPG is showing the netball on Nine and the rugby league on 9Gem, which is why I mentioned it.

Looks like Nine has scrapped the replays of two Telstra TV netball matches on 9Gem during the week. In the past two seasons, the two matches were shown on 9Gem on Monday and Tuesday mornings when no one is watching. That means you either have to subscribe to Telstra TV to watch them live, or enrol as a 9Now member to catch up on them online.

Caught a Wide World of Sports promo (but without that branding) tonight at the end of TBBT, highlighting Nine’s long term sports events.

-Netball
-SOO
-Ashes (in the UK and on 9Gem)
-NRL finals and GF
-President’s Cup golf
-Summer of tennis and Aus Open

And there it is! Confirmation they’re going to screw us out of seeing The Ashes in HD because of bullshit.

Our only hope is maybe Nine changes the HD signal from Nine to 9Gem for the duration of The Ashes. Otherwise, this will cause outrage.

Or turns 9Gem into 9GemHD MPEG-4?

Don’t see why not.

Seven do it (last week with 7mate for a West Coast AFL game in Perth, one example)

Nine runs NRL coverage on 9Gem in the AFL-supporting markets and recently ran off peak golf coverage on that same channel to little if any controversy.

The same will probably happen when The Ashes airs on 9Gem. A few will complain, but most won’t really care.

Very highly unlikely IMO.

Even if it did, you’d probably get complaints from people who want to watch the NRL (in the states where it’s on the main channel rather than 9Gem, of course) or their other favourite Nine main channel programs in HD.

Can’t see this happening unless picture quality of all other channels was to turn into a blurry, pixelated mess (mind you, Your Money is pretty much that right now).

The difference is NRL/AFL/Golf is also on Fox in HD whereas The Ashes is exclusive to Nine. If Fox also had The Ashes there would be no problem.
