Victorian country football show Off the Bench (produced by Crocmedia) has moved from Prime7 to Southern Cross Nine. The new season starts tomorrow (June 29) at 10.30pm, after the AFL Footy Show.

Here’s a comparison I quickly put together this afternoon of SC9’s Townsville and Mackay streams compared to Nine Brisbane’s O&O stream.
The Mackay stream ended early by accident, but you get the picture.

Not that SCA can do much about it, given they use a dirty feed.
But definitely not very relevant to the local region having hit105 written.

Disappointing Nine haven’t provided slightly-less-dirty feeds to SC9 without these (and removing those ‘in-programme’ 9News promos tacked onto Newsbreaks, etc. would be nice).

Watching the 9 Brisbane feed online while also watching SC9 locally, I’ve noticed that SCA seem to cover up most of these 9 News promo adverts with different program promos usually.
They obviously still spill through whenever 9 attach them to news updates though, which is annoying.
SCA still don’t seem to have an idea what they’re doing with sponsor boards.
Most are the normal 9 style (although they look less than SD quality on the TV), but then they slip in one from their old SC10 style.

I’ve noticed recently that SC9 in QLD have been airing different 9 promos recently whenever 9 Brisbane air one of their extremist 9 News “special investigation” ads.
Good to see someone at SCA has a bit more common sense than Nine Brisbane seem to!

I’ve been doing a bit of comparison tonight of SC9’s Townsville and Mackay feeds side-by-side and noticed some minor differences in the playout, that I wasn’t expecting.
The HD watermark bug appears on screen in the Mackay market about half a second before it does in Townsville.
It doesn’t seem like much, but it surprised me, as I was expecting it to be something that SCA would add to each market feed simultaneously, so that minor delay surprised me.
In my comparison, the Mackay feed also seemed to return to the dirty feed earlier than the Townsville feed would too, resulting in the Mackay feed receiving one or two frames from the last Brisbane ad, while Townsville doesn’t see this effect at all. Again, I would have thought SCA would have each of their feeds switch simultaneously, but there is a minor delay.
I’m doing up a video comparing the three currently, and will post more about this once I’ve got it done.

Following up from above, I’ve finally gotten around to finishing off this video.

Here’s a couple of screenshots from the video before I upload it, to illustrate what I mentioned.
Both the Townsville and Mackay market received this Nine.com.au ad, but Mackay (top right) cut from it earlier than Townsville (top left), meaning Mackay saw the last glimpse of the Brisbane (bottom) ad.
HD watermark addition has already appeared on SC9 Mackay (top right), but is yet to appear in Townsville (top left).
This is that same shot from about 1 second later, with both HD watermark additions present.

Here’s the first video in my comparison of 9 Townsville, Mackay and Brisbane.
I recorded the footage on Monday night, just haven’t had a chance to get it online until today.
As you can see, SCA air a different ad in place of the 9 Brisbane “major investigation” promos!
