Nine (Southern Cross)

That’s going to get some outrage from Tasmania, we had it before and WIN were pumping out the ads as in other regions and most of the comments I’ve had when posting about the changes were all asking about where the Life channel would be.

Oh it was in Tassie before ? Hmm maybe it will launch at a different point in July hence the wording… “hope to have it launched before the end of July” on the nineon5 site.

I’m sure there’ll be alot of pissed off folks from regional WA. At least those in Ayr, near Townsville will be happy for a change.

Yep, they definitely had it since March or whenever WIN launched it, that was both for Hobart and Launceston.

Your relatives may not have had an MPEG4 compatible television.

Ah yeah that makes sense.

Though even my 2009LG does MPEG-4.’

Is 9Life coming back as a MPEG-2 or 4 channel?

The placeholder for it is in MPEG-4.

So they have a placeholder that means that they can transmit 9Life.

Why cant they just plug another stream into the feed or even better, just cap it off the 9Now feeds.

Because 9Life is a timezone-based channel and local ads need to be inserted!

If it was that easy I’m sure they would have done it

9Life will launch at 6am on 17th July. It will not be available in Tasmania and South Australia/Broken Hill:

What channel is the placeholder using… 54 at the moment ?

I assume no rescan will be required.

Yes, channel 54.

and the GTS/BKN area which Southern Cross broadcast all 3 Networks. So far the region has got none of the new channels.

They have a phone? I was thinking lots of handwritten letters… with CAPITALS.

Originally the channel was set for mid-August due to the need for new equipment, installation and testing prior to going to air.

Southern Cross now advises work has been fast-tracked and the date brought forward.

How did they do it ?

If they were able to order the equipment so quick from Europe to get 9HD and 9Life up all across QLD, ACT, SNSW and VIC - can’t the order a few more pieces and get Ten HD up in NNSW?

Does SC do Ten up in NNSW ? i wonder why NNSW was missed .

It does say end of July perhaps there are a 2nd lot of areas coming towards the end of the month?
