Within the same post you contradict yourself?
What? SCA 9 and NBNs branding?
If so, the difference here is that NBN doesnât air Syndey centric promos and has enough of a local feel built in around the Nine branding to not look too much like a Sydney channel with little more than local ads.
Metro branding is fine, but there should be enough of a local feel to know that youâre not in the big smoke.
This is what a regional like NBN does alot better than most regionals. Even though NBN has 9 branding now I donât feel like iâm watching a carbon copy of TCN. I suppose the 1 hour evening news 7 days a week helps, as well as little things like Big Dog.
SC9 should look to NBN for inspiration!
Did Nine want 9 Life on quick for some reason ? Mid August is now Mid July ? Next Sunday !
Maybe this means the ABC can get their HD channel up now after saying the techs were too busy with WIN and SCA,
Regional Qld now has all the same as in capital cities. All the HD channels ,7 Flix etc.
Hopefully Southern Cross will pull their finger out and launch Ten HD in the Northern NSW, Spencer Gulf/Broken Hill areas too!
While weâre at it Prime7 need to get their ass moving on Prime7HD but then again the metros need to figure out their HD strategy because we all know its all over the place in the cap cities at the moment.
It would be fantastic if Prime7 went HD - before seven in Sydney and Brisbane
âAlthough SCA and Nine are yet to reveal their regional news plans. Itâs believed they are looking into inserting regional news block into the one hour 9 News in each stateâ
If a plan like this went ahead - I wonder in what block it would be, duration, and what say the Sydney bulletin does during that say 15 minutes. Maybe they concentrate hyper local Sydney stories in that 15 minutes.
Still is backwards Brisbane, Peanut Farmer has set the city behind by establishing a culture that will take a lot of work to undo.
I think retaining the core elements of the state bulletins is a wise move - as dropping the Peter Overtons and Hitcheners etc for unknowns is likely to generate viewer backlash.
Also, I think the tricky part will be how to cut back into Nine News smoothly, given most of the regional inserts will be pre-recordedâŚ
Perhaps there will be closing music in an âextended mixâ format at the end of the regional inserts that will keep playing, waiting for a moment whereby they can cut back in at the end of a Nine News report.
If SCA and Nine are working together on this, why wouldnât it just be timed to say a perfect 12 minute window nightly with 3 minute commercial break. The way ITV and BBC do in the UK__
Yeah, this is the only place where I feel that SCA are lacking.
Yesterday a âLove Thic Cityâ Brisbane ident slipped through, as well as adverts for 9 News simulcast on River 94.9, and the 9Gem signpost had âChannel 92â written underneath it. As well as ACAâs promo saying âBrisbaneâs No. 1â as has been discussed.
So SCA definitely has the feel of being a carbon copy of 9 metro.
Personally iâm enjoying that they use a dirty feed of 9 Metro for their programming, as itâs nice to see the in program pop-ups, etc. and makes it feel like an O&O station, but it definitely lacks when we get Brisbane promos and âChannel 92â, etc. on screen.
I donât think the Love This City idents are slipping through - I think they are inserted by SC as they are rarely shown in Brisbane.
I like this idea better than getting rid of trusted and respected faces and doing a half-arsed national bulletin out of Canberra. SC doesnât have the resources to produce separate bulletins for regional Victoria, NSW and Queensland, anyway.
I imagine SC would produce local news for the block after sport. Nine tends to run âevergreenâ stories or city specific content in that block. City fuel prices and and the weather segment could be ditched in favour of information more relevant to regional/rural communities. Nine would need to be careful how they promote that block so regional viewers donât feel they are missing out. It could end up being a selling point for the Nine metro stations if they choose to dedicate that block to hyperlocal content.
You must be the only person who actually likes to see those pop-ups!
It would probably be better if SCA introduces a state wide one hour news bulletin.
But then itâs not local news.
But do people in the Illawarra want to hear about issues in the Central West and vice versa? The answer is NO!
I sent SCA an email regarding the metro promos, etc. being shown and got this reply:
Wow only 10 days to go⌠only 17 days off air. I suppose the equipment from Europe came faster than expected ?
Even the HD channel coming on Day 1 was a surprise.
Did Tassie ever have 9Life ? My dad was talking to a relative a while back about that channel and they said they didnât get it in Launceston.
