Didn’t get it unfortunately. Just saw it come up on the TV while I was making lunch.
On another note, I can remember when SCA 9 first started on Friday that someone mentioned that the HD watermark on SCA didn’t appear to be in the same location as 9 O&O stations.
Just now watching 9HD, a pop-up promo for The Hunt appeared from the metro feed using the 9HD logo and the HD part of the pop-up promo was definitely not aligned properly with the HD part of the watermark.
SCA’s HD watermark was a little further down from the O&O HD logo. I actually think SCAs got it in a better spot than Nine. Nine’s seems just a little bit too high.
HD watermark on SCA is clearly set on an automated timing, much like was discussed the other day.
9 Metro cut to breaking news at 2:58pm during Britain’s Got Talent.
The HD watermark from the BGT remained on screen during the news until exactly 3:00pm when it faded out.
Being new to the forum, I have read many posts regarding the HD picture quality of SC9 HD v WIN HD where the majority state that SC9 HD is much superior to WIN. I live in the Illawarra viewing area and I have noticed that when viewing both HD channels on my Samsung 4K 65 inch Smart TV the HD picture quality is always much clearer and defined on WIN HD. Any ideas why this is so after reading so many comments regarding the better SC9 HD picture.
I’m surprised about that observation, given that most content on Ten HD (and thus WIN HD) is only upconverted SD. Nine has far more native HD content.
I get both Illawarra and Sydney signals and I haven’t compared SC9 HD to WIN Ten HD, but there’s definitely better fine detail retention on SC9 HD compared to 9 Sydney HD.
Meanwhile, demands from regional viewers for Seven’s long term affiliate Prime to start broadcasting 7Flix into regional areas is met with this response:
I agree with you, taking into account the different programs broadcast. The WIN HD picture quality is about the same as the other’s broadcast like 9HD and Ten HD. When the NRL was on WIN HD it was as good as 9HD if not slightly better (because of a higher bitrate).
Tonight is a good test with MasterChef and Offppring. Checking MasterChef on WIN HD at the moment and it looks as good as anything else broadcast on any HD channel. Will be interested to check Offspting later.
The Ten HD broadcast of Offspring last week was the best Australian drama HD I have seen. Much better than Love Child that was on Monday for example - but that is more about the program source material as also applies to comments made about The Project for example.
Being a straight carbon copy of the nearest 9 metro with local ads and those very average local news updates does look a bit cheap.
I think Prime7 does a good job of blending a metro and local look and feel and having a consistent brand. And their local news updates for Newc/Woll/Canb/Vic are of a better quality than SCAs.
NBNs branding is a mess but slowly getting better - only an issue now with 6pm news. Should also have more local news. But good otherwise.
Imagine if you did have a dotted WIN9 brand, no cover ups, better PQ and all of a sudden WIN would have looked pretty good.
