Or if you’re in my house…
Nine signs affiliate deals with WIN
The Nine Network has signed affiliate deals with Bruce Gordon’s WIN Corporation in regional South Australia and Griffith in NSW, averting a potential “black out” at tomorrow night’s deadline.
Still no word on Tasmania or regional Western Australia.
I’ve lost count of the number of open house parties happening in town on Thursday night to celebrate the switch. BYO PVR, nibbles provided.
I’ve heard that extra police will be on standby to deal with any public celebrations or disturbances associated with the changes.
I don’t get the general press angle that Nine is “scrambling” to sign deals to “stop its signal going black”
Regional SA market has 150,000 - Mildura and Griffith are tiny at under 80,000 people.
Nine only gets 30-40% of ad revenue - we must be talking tiny amounts of ad revenue for Nine here
Tasmania and WA each have about half a million people in the broadcast area - so those two I can understand are worth some
Coin to nine. But the other 3?
To me TDT needs nine much more than nine needs TDT. Without TDT, nine still reaches 95% of the national population. But without nine - TDT literally has no revenue and nothing to air
Realistically, I’m sure we’ll hear an announcement sometime in the next few days or so. Even if the worst case scenario were to happen and Nine Network content was to disappear from Tasmanian or regional Western Australian screens, I strongly doubt that viewers in those areas would be without Nine content for very long…
I believe Nine may have some sporting rights contracts that depend on national coverage so if Nine can’t get TDT then it apparently has worked a deal with SBS as a back up but naturally it would be preferred to have a primary affiliate I would assume.
Was it a mistake to send invites via Facebook for an affiliation countdown party and should the party be registered with the local police?
I have a horrible feeling I didn’t order enough party blowers and poppers. Anyone know where I can pick up some fireworks to let off at the stroke of midnight?
Ask Hatfield to bring some. They’re legal in Canbs.
Agreed. I’m going to try to DX in to WIN Bunbury and WDT or whatever closer when I get the time.
OMG! I just saw what would have definitely been an SCA produced advert for The Voice on SC10.
It was terrible!
The 9 logo in the corner was squashed and the voiceover at the end just said “The Voice” with a large properly aligned Nine logo appearing across the screen.
Wish I’d recorded it… it was laughable
Especially in Ayr, near Townsville for most likely disturbances.
That’s the one!
Doesn’t look as bad on the computer, but the 9 logo was definitely squished looking on the TV, not like it normally is on 9 produced promos.
Now SC10 has just run a Living Room promo. They’re not even airing that show at all anymore. What the hell!
Cricket Australia says Tasmanian broadcast deal must be reached by cricket season
“We’re being kept up-to-date and confident there will be a solution in time for the 16-17 international season, which begins in November."
Negotiations between Nine and TDT are ongoing but a Nine spokesperson admitted there was a possibility that the network’s content may disappear from Tasmanian screens for a short time.
“The government urges Nine and Tasmanian Digital Television to reach an agreement
Tomorrow’s June 30 aka D-Day for Nine signing the Tasmanian and Western Australian Affilation Deals
And why so much concentration on The voice - only 2 episodes to go? Not one promo for the 6pm news! Shouldn’t they be thinking about promoting some of Nine’s other hit shows like The Briefcase
They’re also promoting the State Of Origin despite the fact they’ll only air one game and Queensland has already won the series!
especially in Ayr, near Townsville.
