Itā€™s been reported that the Nine/SC deal took WIN and Ten completely by surprise

I donā€™t believe that for a second. If Nine had wanted a long term partnership with WIN, they wouldā€™ve signed a deal for longer than six months back in December. It was quite obvious they were waiting for SCā€™s deal with Ten to end.

WIN didnā€™t end up going with SC rather than Nine! What are you talking about?!?!

WIN introduced those new channels because they have been a NINE affiliate for nearly 30 years now and probably didnā€™t expect that that would end anytime soon.

Then NINE went ahead and aligned with SCA for their regional affiliation. Leaving WIN to align with TEN.

WIN shouldnā€™t have been unnecessarily combative with Nine for a decade then. Itā€™s somewhat hilarious that WIN was so petty for many years (remember the shenanigans they did with Nine Perth and Adelaide) and expected Nine to just go along with it.

Iā€™m not saying that Nine never did the same in return, but WIN needed Nine much moreso than vice versa.

I was meaning Ch 10. SC i think of as Ten here . It gets confusing sometimes lol.

are they the only people to be surprised?

If thats true, it shows just how out of touch WIN (and in particular their management) is from reality

Liking what I see here! RIP Southern Cross logo. Great to see an informative website and social media presence, too.

Where is the website saying Nine Life and Nine HD are 2 or so months away ? I remember someone posted a while back some information quoted from somewhere?

The nineon5 website is very good!

Answer most of the questions I had in mind eg. LCNs, HD. However, it doesnā€™t mention whatā€™s happening with eXtra anywhere, but does advise on the pre-existing Aspire and TVSN.

Only other thing missing are details on the SCA Local News expansions eg when and what format will it take. Time will tell I guess.

And official confirmation for Tasmania too, no mention on the website until clicking on the Tasmania link but in there it says:

From July 1 2016 TDT will broadcast Nine Network Channels
found on 5, 50, 51, 52, 53, and 54 on remote control
SCTV will continue to broadcast 7, 7TWO, 7MATE unchanged

EDIT: on second look on the map, there is still an asterisk to indicate the second affiliation agreement is still yet to be finalised.

Finally! No doubt produced by Nineā€™s network promo team.

Great clear promo, (love the dig at WIN and ACA coming back), clever tagline ā€œNine on 5ā€ (without saying ā€œChannelā€ to limit confusion)

And very clear, transparent website that really explains it all.

This makes WIN look messy - this is a much clearer transition, WIN could learn from.

So from July 1 it would seem 9 Queensland will get 9 News Brisbane 6-7. Southern NSW will get the Sydney news and Victoria the Melbs news. I wonder if the 2 minute noodle updates will me moved INTO these news windows (6-7pm) and if they will take on 9 News Local branding, and what the presentation will look like.

@WAtvVideos Where is the social media?

I also like ā€œAustraliaā€™s Biggest Networkā€ - take that WIN!

Definitely looks like itā€™s been made by Nineā€™s promo team!
I also loved that dig at WIN for not airing ACA at a decent time.

Quite a handy little promo and website.

Itā€™s great that SCA are planning ahead by leaving LCN 50 and 54 available for when they have the MPEG4 equipment ready.

The NineOn5 website confirms the LCN structure will clearly be:
5: Nine
50: 9HD (broadcast by mid-August at the latest)
51: Nine
52: 9Gem
53: 9Go!
54: 9Life (broadcast by mid-August at the latest)
56: Aspire

I like that the have gone with 5 on the remote rather than channel 5.

I think that a lot of TVs and PVRs will have to be retuned, rather than the ā€œsmall chanceā€ as stated in the FAQs.

Will I still get 9HD?

The equipment needed for Southern Cross Austereo to be able to broadcast the Nine primary channel in HD has been ordered from Europe. As soon as it arrives and is installed, we will start broadcasting 9HD.

9HD will be broadcast by mid-August at the latest.
