I found it odd how that package lasted so little time. Does anyone know the reason behind that decision?
only theory is that someone who is 3d crazed joined nine and took control and hasn’t left since ![]()
Simple yet brilliant. Shame it lasted just over 7 months and was replaced with the blue “welcome home” V1.0
I think it was when a new head of creative came in. Usually when that happens they want to make a stamp on their tenure.
Also back then rebrands were quite common and it was due to trying to rebuild the image of the network post the McGuire era.
Here’s one that actually aired unlike the one posted above which was an alternate variant
I also have to say the 2012 rebrand was one of the most significant and well thought out ones in a very long time. The integration of idents with talent, signposts, themes. You can actually hear it’s the same vocal tone from that 2009 one.
It was a real refresh and I was quite marveled at the time of the depth of it. It looks and sounds good. And the cohesion of the brand was great.
Anything that happens for the one this year won’t be like this. Times have changed, money is tighter and the main elements of signposts and idents don’t happen anymore.
2012 was a brilliant package.
I also really liked the 2015 one but it’s a shame they never used all the presentational elements that came in the package.
I remember I found that a few years back I’ll have to find it again haha
This one!
'09 was a good look marred by terrible programming. I remember they tried launching a few different reality shows that were all atrocious, Ladette to Lady being one of the more maligned ones. (Nine wasn’t alone, I think this was the same era as 10’s similar tilt at reality TV that brought us such wonders as Being Lara Bingle) The schedule was all over the shop - Antiques Roadshow and Top Gear mixed with CSI and Rescue Special Ops with an uncomfortable amount of Wipeout and trashy reality. It was a mess and a weird, disorganised programming slate after a rather successful 2008.
The Welcome Home look seemed to be an attempt to reboot after that. Schedule was PACKED with 2.5 Men, Big Bang Theory because they had nothing else that rated.
Looking at tonight’s promos there are just a few remnants left of the 3D logo - a Today promo plus one on local production My Way.
wonder when the watermark will change over
It’s coming…
Fact or speculation?
Do the sponsor boards still use the 3d logo, or do they use the 2d logo?
My bet is on March 3rd
This was flagged in the NRL on Nine thread.
They’re similar in style to ones freelance designer Jack Cronin has done previously for Nine - they clearly allow him a little leeway in how he uses the logo. Wouldn’t read too much into it.
Fair, but have noticed some of the early promo cards for the Olympics using “fatter” variants of the 9 logo
I’m gonna conclude that any kind of complete revamp is not likely any time soon.
Seems any changes are likely to be subtle and gradual (i.e. flatter logo and ticker banners)
The 3D logo/watermark looks so out of place now.
