Nine News Presenters and Reporters

Chris Kohler has removed any mention of 9news from his Instagram bio.

To be honest, I would have thought Belinda would have gone before Amber.

I wonder if there will be any mention of this on air? Like 7 did when they sacked Sharyn? Or it will just be wiped over.

true but producers come and go, Kate has been a constant who’s never put a dent in 7.

I also think these days of anchors who roll in late in the day and get paid a big paycheque must be coming to an end. If you’ve got reporters working from 8.30am to 6.30pm and getting paid less than 100K, it must be hard to just if an anchor getting paid 8 or 9 times that who rills in at 2 or 3pm, gets their face on, reads some autocue and goes home. I know people- even on this site- have this idea that your Peter Overton types are key players in the newsroom, thanks to promos and PR spin, but that’s generally not true, so you would think there’s the option of paying them less or having them do more work, and one of those has to come out on top.

Oh no!

And do we know if Brett is safe? Eliza Rugg did 4pm yesterday

I really hope not. He’s fantastic.

Sadly not surprised. His role and Effie Zahos’ role are essentially the same so their aim of reducing duplication and ‘streamlining’ everything for efficiency’s sake makes sense here.

Chris is leaps and bounds better than Effie.

Agreed but I think Nine’s probably wary of axing a female talent for a male one as it could be a bad thing for their reputation (not that redundancies help their reputation either way), but then again they did just axe Kate Collins and Amber Sherlock for no good reason either…no idea what they’re smoking.

no definitely not.

Media personalities, television fans slam Channel 9’s decision to axe popular newsreader Kate Collins

The shock axing of a popular Channel 9 newsreader who was blindsided by her dumping has drawn condemnation from Adelaide media personalities and strong fan backlash.

FIVEAA’s David Penberthy did not mince his words on Tuesday morning on his radio show.

“I reckon the biggest story in Adelaide right now is the way poor old Kate Collins has been treated by Channel 9,” he said.

Former Channel 10 newsreader Mark Aiston said he wished Collins all the best and said the community was feeling for her.

Reminds me of 10’s sacking of Adelaide anchor Rebecca Morse a few years ago.

This reminds me of the Wilkinson Saga

Or more recently Sharyn Ghidella by Seven in Brisbane. Expect similar results. Will another network pick up Kate?

It would be perfect timing for 10 to pick her up

Sacking of X presenter is similar to the similar sackings of Y and Z presenters yeah, this is the brutality of this industry sometimes, the list of people this has happened to is too long to type out.

Not sure who would to be honest, she’s fair mid-tier in terms of presenting, so 7 won’t be interested I wouldn’t think. Maybe will pop up on commercial radio for a year before being axed from that as seems to be the way.

Forgot to post earlier, but it made the front page of Adelaide’s Advertiser
