She was on last night. But who knows anything is possible.
Hard to believe. What is Nineâs thinking? The bulletin has made major inroads into Sevenâs dominance of the market and has become very competitive.
Doubt that viewers, who can be very loyal to newsreaders, will be impressed.
Re Kate:
Itâs understood to have come as a âhuge shockâ to the presenter, with the insider saying Collins was âabsolutely blindsidedâ.
âSheâs heartbroken ⌠she loved the job so much and she never took the privilege for granted,â the source said.
Itâs on par with Sevenâs axing of Sharyn Ghidella last year in terms of how dumbfoundingly crazy of a decision it is.
Muppets, I believe if restructuring has to occur the whole executive team should be replaced, they have failed their shareholders, staff and viewers, just awful human beings.
Guarantee those same execs will receive bonuses at the end of the year for âeconomising resources in the news department, allowing expenditure to be redeployed to other key areasâ or something along those lines
Donât get me wrong, I agree with you. Sheâs been on weeknights since 2011 and hasnât won a ratings year in that time, but she shouldnât have been the one to take the fall. Thereâs News Directors & Producers who should cop the blame in addition to the management.
I feel for Kate, having met her I can say sheâs lovely and she genuinely cared about her work. Itâs been a rough year for her too so to throw a sacking into that is cruel from Nine. Watch their ratings go even lower now.
100% agree, to be told how good you presented the pageant to being walked out Monday, is horrible by Nine.
Just add it to the list of shocking calls by that station.
Perfect opportunity to remove Tony Jones and maybe also revert to a solo presenter in MelbourneâŚ. But that would mean we would no longer see Tom and that luscious rug on his head!
Presumably the main Melbourne cut will be either not filling Liviniaâs role, or having the replacement weather presenter be a reporter/presenter for other bulletins.
Obviously someone like Liv they let her craft her own exit. For someone who has been so loyal to the place itâs probably the right way to do it, as bad as that might sound, itâs definitely the right way. Nothing worse than being âdumpedâ and some outlets go to town over that stuff, like the Daily Mail.
Obviously the wage bill for the bulletins had been too high hence the cuts to Liv, Collins etc.
Considering Kate Collins has also been really loyal to Nine and risen up the ranks at the network, itâs appalling that she wasnât afforded a similar opportunity to have a âsoftâ exit.
Thatâs the Melbourne and Sydney factor for you.
Same happens across many corporates. Our company has dumped and treated those in areas outside of those big metros like rubbish in prior times. I would never go back to a regional or smaller metro location as Iâve seen how executives just cut them off. When we cut recently those long term well known folks in Sydney got over and above exit treatment. Poor folks out in the far West got zilch.
Sadly 9 News Adelaide is a low rating bulletin with little profile outside of the state so itâs a dump and run job sadly.
The Australian reporting Amber Sherlock is also a casualty.
The Australian is reporting Amber Sherlock is impacted
Looks like sheâs probably presented her last bulletin ever last nightâŚ
I think this might start to open up a new chapter on how any broadcasting payroll looks into the future.
With revenue down nearly 10% as they reported, across the last two months, the days of high salaries, investing in staff are gone. It will likely erode talent within the industry and future talent considering the industry.
The future is a leaner model. I think these cuts are just a start from whatâs to come in the coming years.
Sevens AGM was told they were down 13% in October - One would suspect that would be a fair chunk of 9 and 7âs profit margin assuming they still have one. Its sad to see some of these people lose their jobs at a personal level but TV anchors are not going to be getting $300k+ in the future for 4 hours a day work plus their morning radio gig $$$.
The TV accountants would say the good old days were only good afterwards.
Agree, others like Peter Overton who are among the top earners in the news team will be getting haircuts when their next contract renewal comes up⌠as will non news stars.
Assume thatâs why Livinia left. Wouldnât be shocked if Hitch gets a haircut too.
