Fiona Byrne has written an article in the Sunday Herald Sun writing that she believes the end of this year could be a good time for Peter Hitchener to retire as he marks the milestones of 50 years at the Nine Network and 25 years reading the 6pm news.
Thereâs no concrete evidence in the piece that he plans on retiring so itâs really just speculation, but you wonder if sheâs heard an inkling of somethingâŚ

By saying âfew more yearsâ, he rules out any plan Nine might have had of âencouragingâ his retirement. Certainly not something I want them to do but, given the ratings, hard to not believe it hasnât been considered.
