Nine News Local

Good point! Autofocus is great, but with the moving cars and flashing lights in the background, the camera would be more inclined to focus on that resulting in a more blurred talent.
Try be a video journalist for a day, it’s harder than people think.

spot on. It was late breaking, how good he was able to get it to air, even if it was the most perfectly composed shot! Great to see them still working hard knowing full well they’re literally unemployed in a few days.

Seriously if you can’t be sure you were going to be in focus why even record a standup? Just VO. Looked very bad.

Seriously guys stop. With an absolute shoestring budget and the bulletin ending in a few days, he did well. As already noted - it was a developing story and he was by himself.

I’d love to see you all work in newsrooms.

The sheer put downs by some people here is astonishing. Being a VJ is HARD work. Leave the guy alone.

Exactly.

The equipment being provided isn’t best for Video Journalists either.

Nothing special about tonight’s bulletin.

Final story “Yum love a bit of pilchard with my cake.”

Probably a clue of what’s to come for her farewell

Nothing! It did end with a cake though :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

It was noted as her last Friday above - 3 to go next week.

My bad. Deleted the post.

Thanks for posting about this. You didn’t really need to but thanks for adding some more detail about all the pressures. One thing I hate these days is all the experts who know how to run everything in any industry and really have no clue - but they can solve the COVID crisis, fix all the supermarket checkout queues, solve the crime rates and restore all of Nine’s servers from crypto by lunchtime… and probably even find who the perps were by afternoon smoko.
For people like me who will happily admit I have no clue with all sorts of different things, this sort of insight into the job is helpful purely for an understanding of things but also to see what pressures others get under, I know my job’s pressures which others don’t realise and my wife’s etc…

Essentially, I guess I’m saying thanks and also for all others to be kind - there’s always a lot more going on than we realise with things.

Hope the next few days are good for you and all the NNL teams, obviously not a great time for those left but I hope you can all make the most of it and I hope if you haven’t got another job lined up that you find one again soon. Feeling for you and all the others who are losing their employment with these changes.

well said, im sure the experience you have gained while “on the road” has been awesome, all the best with your future

What does "open up the focus " mean?

I’ll give the answer a go.

Increase the depth of field by narrowing the lens aperture. That puts more of the scene potentially in focus.
