Very unfortunate if true. She’s one of their best presenters along with Jono and Wendy Kingston.
They could’ve given her Queensland’s weekend edition with Jono or even a weekend edition of Nine News Darwin (or share it with Paul Taylor on weekdays).
Can someone please put these bulletins out of their misery already? This cross last night would have to take the cake for one of the worst crosses I have seen – and the talent couldn’t be more out of focus if they tried (literally). I’m sorry but this is just amature hour and a terrible look for the Channel 9 brand.
Despite the issues with the regional and now statewide 9News bulletins (and I’ve criticised them heavily), at least they did add local news coverage.
Now with the demise of 9News Local and recent cuts to WIN News (even after WIN took taxpayers money under condition of maintaining local news), things are going to be really bleak.
I don’t mean to be rude, but if there was no cameraman there and this was a video journalist, they should at least know the basic principle of focusing a camera. This isn’t community television or a YouTube channel, this is one of Australia’s most reputable news brands.
This is me, Archie Staines, I am a Video Journalist, meaning I don’t have a camera operator with me.
This was breaking news, I had very little time to properly adjust the camera, It’s very hard to focus when there is no talent in frame to focus on. It’s sort of a hope for the best situation with these kind of things.
I have been a camera operator at 9CW for two years, I know how to work camera. I have since made the switch to reporting as we are very low staffed atm. I hope you appreciate we close in four days and won’t have jobs to come back to.
I agree, the shot wasn’t the best, but I feel information about a double fatal crash shutting a main highway was more important than what I looked like on camera. This kind of vital information will not be broadcast in less than a week.
It’s called auto focus. Or they could have also opened up the focus and had no depth in the picture. Yes it might not look as good as it would with a camera operator present, but both options would have been better than a blurry talent.
