TVTonight confirms that Hot Seat will extend to an hour format from 5pm Monday January 23rd. This means shortening of the Nine Afternoon News bulletins. Will also be interesting to see what happens on the Gold Coast due to the local bulletin being at 5.30pm.

IMO, it’s pretty obvious what Nine will do on the Gold Coast from January 23: Exactly what Seven does with The Chase Australia in that market.

In other words: A shortened bulletin with a pre-recorded “…and that’s where we leave our Gold Coast viewers” outro at 4.30pm followed by Hot Seat.

And exactly what Nine have already been doing at 4:50, with the presenter announcing live for all of Australia to see “that’s where we leave our Gold Coast viewers”, before going to a recap of headlines for the rest of the country - only difference is that it will be 20-30 mins earlier.

Just now on the Nine News Melbourne Instagram story there seems to be a glimpse of a different set off to the side, looks like a potential news set.

Agree 100%. Some posted a picture showing part of it on Monday, but it’s much clearer in that story. There’s definitely another screen playing the backdrop graphics - most probably the new curved LED screen.

Perhaps, Nine News Melbourne will move to where ACA was and the regional news will be presented from the current set and location.

Footy Classified is now where ACA was.
Regional news will be in the studio next door (also used by Kids WB along with some of the Sunday Footy Shows at times) - being live also, it can’t be in the same studio.

That new news set is where ACA once was. Footy Classified would be able to be dismantled and only brought out when needed, might end up where the current news set is now.

Yep, looks like they moved the FC set out for the new news set, FC can be set up weekly, doesn’t need to be up 24.7. Maybe they’ll move parts of the old set to the other studio for regional news?

Western Australian Election is in just under two months and would be a good opportunity for STW to provide coverage given it’s first time there’s a state election since they’ve been under Nine ownership. Reckon they will send Laurie Oakes over on the big night?

I do not agree with Nine interviewing one of the streakers at last night’s BBL game during tonight’s Sydney bulletin.

They do not deserve any fame for an act of stupidity.

This will only encourage more idiots to do the same thing.
