They’ve been alternating between the two opening sequences for a while. Initially the title card first sequence was only used when the first story was presented standing, but recently they have been using it more and more, even when the first story is at the desk.
I do agree, the crash zoom is much more effective and fast paced than the current alternative. I think it really captures the viewer’s attention.
Brisbane received a live press conference from NSW this morning so that there was no morning news to broadcast when 11:30 came.
Update: Nine later showed a shortened version of the morning news.
QLD afternoon news now on a break until January 18, 2021. Presumably a national bulletin will be shown in the meantime.
I’m up in regional Qld and have just seen a promo where Melissa and Andrew say “thanks Qld for making us No 1”… I thought 7 was No1 in Qld, and 9 was No 1 in Brisbane in 2020?
The promo that was being run before I left Brisbane was that they were No 1 in Brisbane and they’d put their own tacky “No 1 official ridge didge dinky di” stamp in the top corner.

Why the hell is the Victorian press conference have a different template? Why is the logo moved to the right side?
They have used the wrong super. That one is used for news headlines during programmes.
I have a feeling that the news studio did not broadcast this conference. It looks like the feed was carried from NPC Presentation direct, as that super is one they play from the “on-air” side during programming (often promoting headlines in an upcoming bulletin).
