Yeah, usually- behind regional presenters Samantha Heathwood and Paul Taylor.

Perth 5pm News

Nine Gold Coast has settled into a joint news update/promo featuring both GC and Brisbane bulletins. The “starts next” super during the 6pm promo segment is a bit confusing if taken literally.

What’s the handover between Perth 5pm and 6pm like?

Did anyone record the bulletin?

Really love that handover! Better than Adelaide’s at the desk.

Clunky delivery from Monika but it’s day one.

I think that’s just her presenting style after watching some videos of her on 10 News also.

Great bulletin.

Do they still use the old ‘Darwin’ flags?

The 5PM opener is really good. Wouldn’t mind the other states going for that style.
6PM handover needs work.
She’s a great presenter though. Shame on 10.

The “handover” from 5pm to 6pm wouldn’t work in the eastern states because you have regional and Gold Coast bulletins prior to 6pm - so it would look clunky for them.

The scripting of the handover is Very clunky. IMO it should just be “That’s the News this hour. Nine News at 6 with Michael Thompson starts Now.” or I would even consider having the weather presenter end it with “That’s the news at 5. Nine news at 6 Starts Now”

Yeah, I was hoping it was going to be more like this handover between Nine News Now and the 4pm News from @SouthCoastTV :

I’d go with:

I think that’s too wordy.
A simple “That’s 9News for this hour, the 6pm News with Michael Thompson starts now” 6pm opener starts

I personally don’t like the handover currently, 6pm is the flagship bulletin and shouldn’t be transitioned in. It should start as a stand alone.

Probably just a throw to the ad break and then return as a seperate bulletin like here:
