That costs $$$$ and even Nine as the biggest media conglomerate in Australia can’t be bothered spending that much.
It would be nice but not needed.
The current set configurations are doing it’s job. It’s 2020 - we will rarely or never see brand new sets worth of millions of dollars introduced to our screens again.
Wouldn’t be surprised if Gold Coast staffing numbers are reduced or production shifted to the regional hub in Brisbane if the networks choose to make more cuts to news in the future.
If any set pieces which haven’t been moved over to North Sydney are being kept, you’d think NBN (who I’m pretty sure are still expected to move to new studios in Newcastle next year) will eventually get them?
Do you think we’ll see a return to older, more basic styles of news sets across all networks once the current generation of screen-dependent stuff reaches the end of its lifespan?
Definitely - or they will replace parts of the set which require it.
A Current Affair is a good example. The set has gone from couches with the ability to do interviews - now a box with some screens joined together.
Nine News Regional + NT is also super basic, 1 camera stuff - but it still delivers the news.
Even a replica of the regional set (plus the stand-up area they currently have) would be an improvement.
Seven’s looks so much better and appears to be the same size (if not smaller).
Wouldn’t mind seeing the new ACA set deployed across regional and actually used more than 1 angle in their bulletin.
But expect no effort if it’s not O&O.
Presumably Hot Seat is moving to 4pm.
It must be working in Adelaide, so Nine thought they might try their luck in Perth.
It’ll be rather interesting to see how Monika rates against Narelda, that’s for sure!
Still wonder whether or not moving the 4pm bulletins to 5pm is a longterm goal for Nine in the three East Coast markets. Although things over on this side of the country would probably be a bit trickier what with the Nine News Local bulletins and in Queensland, Nine Gold Coast News which shares a control room with the main 6pm bulletin for South East QLD.
yeah .if adelaide and perth are moving from 4 to 5 then will be melbourne be next i wonder then syndey and brisbane?
No. It is clearly a tactic in these struggling markets.
They are winning at 4PM in Melbourne so by moving it to 5, they would be giving Seven an advantage.
Well good Monika is back on Perth’s screens again after a not so good time at 10.
Looks like Perth have come to the conclusion that they needed another face instead of using their current on-air talents like Tracy Vo.
Mostly positive on their Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/9NewsPerth/posts/4049404795071650
Definitely looks better. No more light reflections.
Possibly because in the Charles Croucher segment, the videowalls were displaying chroma key green which of course was digitally removed in favour of the story-specific backdrop images/video before the shot made it to our screens?
Ah yep it is. Just noticed.
Would be fantastic if the displays looked like that in normal use. They need some edge-lit screens without a glossy coat (like the main display)
Promo for the new Nine News at 5pm in Perth.
“The only live and local Perth news at 5” would have been better.
