Nine News Content and Appearance

Who really cares? The local GC viewers won’t care about the intro, It’s good that they are promoting a live and local bulletin. I think it’s time we move on.

Why doesn’t the Darwin bulletin mention their address in the title sequence?

“Live from Brisbane and controlled from North Sydney, this is your Nine News Darwin”

I’d kill for Nine to use the latitude and longitude of the North Sydney building in the Sydney opener

Many programs say something similar like Good Morning Britain “Live from Television Centre in London”, NBC News “Live from the NBC News world headquarters in New York”, Nine Perth briefly as “Top of the terrace” but as a specific city focused bulletin and as someone who used to live on the Gold Coast, for me, hearing the actual address just gives more of the feeling of wow this is local. It might sound mundane, but it works.

It’s actually controlled from Brisbane.

The wording of different intros fluctuates a lot over time. 7 Adelaide got close some years ago:

“7News. Live from the Adelaide studios of Channel 7. With Jane Doyle and John Riddell.”

Or remember 7News’ phase of “Live from our [city] headquarters, this is 7News”?

Seven: “From our Mt Coot-tha studios.”

“Youth Crime Crisis” seems very reminiscent of the Queensland bulletin emphasised with reporter at the desk.

Melbourne really needs a bigger desk if they are going to persist with 3 or 4 on it at one time.

The desk size is fine. They’ve just always been a bit dodgy with seat positioning and camera angles that make it look small/squishy when guests or other presenters are at the desk.

Certainly doesn’t come off as ‘fine’. Even Tim and Alicia look squished up together.

Seems like a modification has been made to the Melbourne Skyline live cam… seemed to work better tonight and less zoomed in?

Much better tonight.
