Gotta love the old days when ‘the Dixie chicks’ presented the bulletin!
I never said Seven “invented” it. Seven Sydney (ATN) are the only other station in Australia that comes to mind that have studios like that.
7 Sydney were first, then 9 Adelaide, now 9 Perth.
Of course TVQ0 beat them all to the punch in Australia by having their news operations on show to the public at World Expo '88.
@SA_TV thanks for clarifying.
All I can see now is those wonky buildings!
They need to get a wider angle lens on the camera that shoots the backdrop. It’s too zoomed in and doesn’t show enough of the skyline behind the presenters. That said, it’s going to be interesting to watch the daily progress of the building being build behind Tim.
Spectacular new weather graphics. Seven News Perth looks awful in SD compared to Nine News Perth which is in native HD
Just wish they change the skyscrapers on the weather graphics. Still got St George on Central Tower and still looks way too dark!
I’m pretty sure Nine hasn’t changed the basic layout of it’s current weather graphics (even if the fonts, etc. have changed with newer packages) that much since 2009…
Looks fantastic! Great that it’s used at both ends of the day!
Had no idea they had relaunched the bulletin and moved to the CBD - but seeing the caps here, everything looks great.
Seriously Seven Perth looks like amateur hour compared with that.
Lucky you’re not anywhere near story selection for a news bulletin then. As if the state Premier facing a spill motion after months of rumbling is not lead news, LOL.
A montage of the bulletin on Monday from the 720p stream including report on new studio.
It’s a very nice set. I can’t fault it at all really. It’s basically in line with expectations for a set in any other country, but standards in Australia are so low it’s basically the best set in the country.
I’m looking forward to seeing if Nine’s efforts are equal in other states, especially in Brisbane HD looks so nice over in Perth.
Well done Perth, youve finally caught up with the rest of the world. Ditch that plasma though and less 3d in graphics. Yee good.
It goes to show you when a station manager and news director CARE and are passionate and pay attention to detail, study what happens in other countries and are willing to push the people above them for the money to invest in technology and sets - it IS possible in Australia
Clearly the station manager is responsible for this investment, and no doubt getting the budget approved. I’d love to know how much it cost - and if it came from his general news budget or if he has to push network for the funds
Moving house to a whole new studio certainly gives him good reason too warrant the upgrades.
Hopefully Nine allocates funds to other stations including NBN to do something similar
That might be unlikely. STW is getting a lot of love and money at the moment because it’s so far behind Seven there.
That doesn’t make sense.
If the goal of the new set was to increase ratings they are way off base. The old set was fine. The money would be much better spent on of channel marketing, and increased news gathering and reporting. And perhaps poaching talent.
Good thing is they won’t have to touch Perth now for awhile. Time all the other states get the same set, Perth would be at least 1-2 years old and usually Nine will keep them for 5+ years even more now that it’s mostly screens so will last into the 2020s
