Weird no fuelwatch nor any finance graphics. They really only used half of the set too. Those screens behind the TV are kinda pointless atm. Guess they designed them so it can change in an instant. Only first night so I expect more innovative things coming in the next few weeks. Now hurry up all the other Nine stations. I say Sydney is next very very soon.

Those little tables behind the desk are so obvious in every shot, they really didn’t think that through. Get rid of them or paint them black.

Literally my only complaint.

Do I think that the new look set and graphics Nine News Perth an improvement over what they had before? Absolutely.

Do I think that the new look Nine News Perth set and graphics would work particularly well here in Sydney, where our 6pm bulletin from Nine has long been driven by it’s presenting/reporting team much moreso than the On-Air Presentation? I have to say that I’m not so sure about that.

Perhaps Perth’s flashier set and graphics could work in Adelaide and maybe Brisbane. But for all the excitement and major/Breaking News that Sydney and Melbourne generate, the On-Air Presentation of Nine’s 6pm bulletins in both markets has traditionally not been as overexcited as I would probably say this new look in Perth is, but there have certainly been some decent quality sets/graphics packages over the years for Nine News Sydney/Melbourne including the current look.

I think Nine News’ 6pm bulletins in Sydney and Melbourne need a refreshed On-Air Presentation package that has a perhaps more basic, toned down look to match the generally presenter/reporter-driven bulletins that Nine provides it’s viewers in Australia’s two biggest cities. Of course I’m not saying that the On-Air Presentation of Nine News Sydney/Melbourne should be bland and boring but at the same time, Perth’s new look would just be a bit too overwhelming for Nine’s top rating bulletins in Australia’s two biggest cities IMO.

Yes I agree. Much as I think it’s a fantastic set, I am having real trouble picturing Pete or Hitch sitting behind that desk with all those jazzy panels and bright plasmas and so on.

Something that follows the same basic layout but with finishes along the lines of what the BBC uses (ie blocks of colour, backlit panels, a simpler desk etc) would be great on the east coast.

It reminds me of the old set but the sports backdrop given a birthday.[quote=“KVZ, post:1096, topic:67, full:true”]

I agree completely, they just look out of place,

they have 2 options and that is to paints them black or just keep one and put it in the middle of the desk so it isn’t so obvious.

probably is the biggest story of the day…

Today marks one year to the day NWS9 moved into the Pirie Street studios. Perth move in one year to the date after Adelaide’s new studio.

My recording failed. :frowning:

Nine Perth studio is better than that of Seven Perth. As a traditional Seven Perth watcher, STW has improved with the new graphics.

I’m expecting the rest of the Nine Network to use the new graphics by Christmas or in the New Year.

I wonder where Nine got the inspiration for the “curbside viewing” in Perth (Seven Sydney in Martin Place perhaps), and what the reasoning is behind it just for news when that’s all they really do there. It’s not as if they do any kind of morning programming with performers, guests etc…
