I agree. It might look better if a ticker filled the large gap below the super. In fact the new opener reminds me of Big Brother.
The best I can say based on just seeing a couple of newsbreaks is that they are different. So far, doesnât seem like an improvement (I might even like the previous look better). The white strap is too big and bright (on my TV) and seemed to overpower the rest of the picture. I agree with others that the white globe square seems to throw the look off balance - way too big. Perhaps if there was a slight translucency?
Again with the âSee it Firstâ. I wish they would stop this BS (my pet aversion) - what am I going to see first at 6pm?
Judging by the News Update that aired during the Afternoon News, Sydney will be continuing with the current (and dare I say superior compared to what Perth is getting tonightâŚyou can throw things at me right now! ;P) look for the meantime.
Iâm generally a fan of most On-Air Presentation elements at the Nine Network and donât get me wrong, Iâve been longing for a Nine News rebrand and still think that the news service needs one, especially after seven years of the current 6pm news set here in Sydney. But I think itâs a very big step backwards for Nine News to blatantly rip off the branding (really, how can anyone here not think of Ten Eyewitness News when you see the near-identical globe and itâs pulsating rings design on the Nine News Perth graphics?) of another news service with itâs new branding.
Media Spy will often complain (and rightly so, I might add) when Seven News introduces new presentational elements that are âheavily inspiredâ by those of other networks, so I think we should be saying the same about this new look for Nine News Perth.
When did we invent this? There was literally no confirmation for or against the other cities getting new lower thirds.
I think I am the only one who likes the new supers. It is abit CNN to me but hey wait to see what happens at 5pm (If Perth is running Afternoon News) or 6pm.
I think the other cities will run with the new graphics.

Well dd8.tv did do the Big Brother (9 era) titles, as well as Ten Eyewitness News! What are the chances they are behind the new Nine News relaunch too?
Looks like a blatant rip off of the Ten eyewitness news titles. Not a fan of this vortex look, looks nothing like a globe - like a black hole should appear.
Maybe Bruce Gordon had a say in the new design given he still has a share in Nine.
QLD really needs a new set! They still have the 2009 panels.
I believe that the Nine News Sydney set also still has those panelsâŚand the 2008-09 logo on the desk!

Gold Coast News [graphics]
[/quote] Now that is disgusting. At first I thought that yellow was sound waves, then with close-study I realised it is supposed to be a skyline!
I hope thatâs only a graphic theyâre inserting onto the livestreamingâŚ
Perth only relaunch. Sydney still has the old graphics.
Perth is again the only Nine station using different graphics for the first time since 2009.
No new graphics in Melbourne.
Iâd say they will come with the new set.
âŚas I expected, Nine News Sydney is still using the same set and graphics you saw them using last night. So definitely a Perth-only refresh for now.
When Nine News does eventually get a branding change in this part of the world, lets hope it will be the proper evolution of the current look and introduced to viewers in the way that probably only Nine News Sydney would!
And I am really hoping STW produced the graphics that will be going to air tonight. Fingers crossed, TCN will deliver a more polished package in Melbourne, Brisbane and nationally. Despite the minor change on the GC, no change as expected in QLD either.
I very doubt it, the new graphics will be rolled out but they are waiting for the new sets first while Nine Perth is their testbed. Itâs simply too good for STW to produce for that one market. Perth is just ahead atm. Like with Nine News Adelaide when they moved studios, the modified supers were for Adelaide only then it rolled out to Sydney and Melbourne after.
