“This is your one chance to tell Queenslanders why you went to Melbourne”.
Not coming across as a good look for Nine; looking distinctly like an ACA segment. But will definitely draw the audience in. Interesting that ACMA is advising people on twitter on how to make a complaint about the reporting already.
Yet again, should we really be surprised when you consider who QTQ’s news director is?!
A pity that Amanda Patterson isn’t on Twitter, because it’d be great to see her cop some heat (within reason of course) for very questionable Nine News Queensland content decisions.
They get hounded by people on Twitter who don’t understand that they have to complain to the network/Free TV Australia first. Perhaps a sign that self-regulation needs a re-think.
Don’t know if this has been discussed yet, but when Nine moves into their new North Sydney headquarters, what will they do with the current Sydney news set?
I reckon they might build, or are building, an exact replica of the current Sydney news set at North Sydney, and then what would happen with the current set at Willoughby is that it would be dismantled (when Nine moves to North Sydney) and then shipped to NBN Television studios in Newcastle, and they can inherit it (it would then have to be rebuilt).
Currently, NBN News has the old Nine News Queensland set. I don’t know if the studio dimensions will allow for them to inherit the current Sydney set.
I’ve gotta imagine an entirely new building Rather than a 50 year old one allows for some pretty significant technology upgrades.
A new set might look similar but around the world when broadcasters move like this they rebuild the entire fire out with new technology (even if it has the same look design)
Considering the crazy amount of money that curved video wall would’ve cost, they’ll be taking it with them.
When Nine Adelaide moved from North Adelaide to the CBD they set up a TOSS-style temporary set (which only had the one presenter angle) while the set was moved to their new studios over a weekend.
One of the other studios at Willoughby will likely be used to continue presenting a less flashy version of the news while the set is moved to North Sydney. They might need longer than a single weekend though.
With the current Nine News Sydney set being just over three and a half years old (and will be closer to four years old by the time of the move), I’m personally hoping there’ll be a new or at the very least, significantly refreshed set for North Sydney.
But if the existing Studio 21 news set is to be transported down the road, do we think there’s a chance that the side videowalls will be removed (or repurposed for use elsewhere) so the Sydney set looks like QTQ’s? Because let’s face facts here - TCN has mainly stuck to Queensland-like usage of the set over the last couple of years.
Given that their previous set lasted 8 years, I can’t see them replacing this set any time soon.
If anything, they might spruce it up a little bit to make it more multi-purpose for Today (etc), but other than that I reckon the general look will be relatively unchanged.
