Nine News Content and Appearance (2015-Sept 2020)

Why this week? And what makes you think a new set is coming?

If and when a new Nine News Sydney set is on it’s way, I suspect that we will probably see the bulletin presented from a temporary set for a week or two while the new one is prepared…

Highly doubt it. Could be wrong but size could be a problem.

Unlike Seven News, I believe Nine News will coincide their graphics refresh with their (possible) new set on the same night. From internal sources, we are aware that Nine News is getting a graphics relaunch this month and Nine News Perth is getting a new set next Monday. If Nine News Perth’s set is as great as @Read_It_First says and after 7+years, I am expecting a new set for Sydney max in the next 6 months.

Again, unlike Seven’s ATN studio, Nine has multiple news studios at TCN. Depending on the size of the new set, I can’t see why the new set can’t be constructed from studio 1 ( which has held Nine News and Today in the same day) or from studio 2. Perhaps a Friday/Saturday night bulletin will be presented from a temporary studio. Would the relaunch occur on a Sunday or Monday night in Sydney?

Apart from Nine News Sydney, do any other productions currently use Studio 1? Obviously Today and Mornings used to, but I’m pretty sure that most Sydney-based national news/current affairs programs at Nine come from either Studio 2 or 3 these days.

I suppose that the possibility of a temporary Nine News Sydney set before a new one is launched would depend on the size of the studio and how large the current/new sets are.

Any possible graphics relaunch would most likely happen in Sydney on a Monday along with the rest of the network, IMO. Set wise could be a different story, depending on whether or not a new Sydney set coincides with the launch of new graphics.

In any case: When/if Nine News Sydney have their next relaunch, they WILL be upfront to their viewers about it. If not on TV, certainly through social media at the very least.

Terrible news opener! Worst news intro ever.

Nine News Perth just tweeted this promo:

Relaunch alert in 3, 2, 1. New Nine Perth studio looks massive.

Yep. It looks like Nine is going all out than what Seven Perth did. I hope to expect an evolution of the Nine News Brand than an update. So much studio space makes this sound like it’s going to be a big shift in presentation style. Looking forward to it :sunglasses:

One of two major events happening in TV land on September 19, it has to be said…

While I’m here though, some more of the newer promo graphics (that exact “First On” scene was obviously also shown again before the blue “ON” and Breaking News bits, but I think you get the general idea):

And of course, how could I forget to mention that Nine News Sydney are also running another one of their semi-regular “Home Viewer Competitions” this week:

Has anyone seen what the new studio and set looks like yet? The anticipation is building.

I’d imagine that the new Nine News Perth set is a pretty tightly guarded secret at the moment.

New studio no, new set yes. These masterpieces have been at least 12 months in the making, if not more.

It’s nice to know Perth is the centre of attention, and WA could be very likely the first state to debut the relaunched Nine News graphics package and set which is very rare for us might I add, and might not happen again a while after! I hope we will all be impressed especially the tough critics on here

9 have no choice but to make them the center of attention. They’ve got a long journey to steal viewers of 7 News in Perth!

There’s a video that’s been posted earlier in this thread (see post #752) where the station manager of Nine Perth goes onto say that the news set at their new studios “is a precursor to sets around the country”.

So in other words, expect to eventually see Nine News in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide to all get something similar to Perth’s new set. Obviously the Gold Coast bulletin won’t upgrade since they only got a new set two months ago while Nine News Darwin/NBN News will probably keep their current sets for the time being I’d imagine.

A decade ago, Seven News Perth had a decent actual set (albeit, not in line with the East Coast style at the time) and Nine News Perth had a dodgy virtual/chroma-key set. Oh how times have changed…

Although sadly despite the lure of a flashy new set and HD production on Nine, I would not be surprised if Perth continues to remain loyal to Channel Seven and it’s dodgy virtual sets for as long as the 6pm-7pm hour on weeknight is still fronted by iconic and popular local presenters such as Rick Ardon, Susannah Carr, Bazil Zempilas and Monika Kos!

Does 9 Really need new graphics? The current ones are great. I think these are the best tv news graphics in Australia’s tv history.
