Oh dear!
I always thought the âNBN Newsâ sign offs were added in locally at NBN since its sometimes quite obvious that theyâve edited it, particularly when the reporter has done it âon cameraâ on the Nine News report.

the NBN signoffs are just plain awful, and they donât even try to make it sound decent⌠recent example being Andrew Lund⌠itâs just âAndrew Lund, NBN Newsâ but it doesnât have an ended, itâs been cut off from his days in London so you almost hear the âLâ after ânewsâ⌠a big hard-cut.
Lizzie Pearl doesnât even sound similar in her report than she does in the sign off.
Then you have all the Melbourne and most Brisbane reporters who donât have sign offs⌠itâs a mess.
Just sign off with Nine News on ALL reports (even local) and be done with it.
New news promo has rolled out in MelbourneâŚ
good promo
Would have been good if Melbourne followed Sydney, and had the end tag of being Melbourneâs #1 news. I canât recall a time where Nine in Melbourne have used the term
Personally I prefer the promos we get for Nine News here in Sydney, but Iâm biased. That said, the promo for Nine News Melbourne posted above is quite decent!
Iâm pretty sure that Nine Melbourne were promoting their news as âMelbourneâs #1â for many years, which became âMelbourneâs Bestâ when Seven started beating them in the ratings.

[/quote] I think Nine News Sydneyâs promos are more sensationalised than Melbourneâs are. GTVâs news seemed to be more classy and placid where as Nine News Sydney seemed to be much more competitive- hence the use of Sydneyâs number 1.
Quite a good promo.
âAlways onâ just doesnât make sense! Iâve always thought that.
I think that itâs in reference to having an online presence, ie even if the news isnât being broadcast on tv - stories are still broken online
The âAlways Onâ slogan is/was used as a tie-in with 9News.com.au (the supers shown at the end of bulletins and updates promote 9News.com.au and the âAlways Onâ tagline side by side) and promos such as this and this. Although admittedly, the point is probably clearer in those website promos compared to standard promos for the 6pm bulletin.
I get that but I think the line in the promo is something like⌠âalways there and always onâ. ?? Sounds weird.
I also think it was used as a response to Sevenâs Everywhere campaign IIRC
Interesting.

Nineâs 5pm Perth bulletin not airing today.
Nine Perth prepares to move into new CBD studio
AFTER 51 years in Dianella, Channel Nine Perth is gearing up to move into its new state-of-the-art CBD studios.
It will cover 2500sq m across three interconnected buildings and is on track to begin broadcasting in mid-September.
The hub will be an outdoor area, called Nine Plaza, with a public viewing window into the news studio, a first for Perth.
To go along with the prime location, the station will switch to an entirely new fully automated system with ârobotic camerasâ.
Eva Milic had a bit of trouble fighting off the giggles on the QLD Afternoon News this afternoon.
When Nine Perth moves into itâs new studios mid-next month, are we expecting a new news set or just the old one from Dianella to be trucked over to Nine Plaza?
In any caseâŚwhile Nine Newsâ current branding has aged rather well, knowing how both Seven and Ten have refreshed their news branding in recent times and that thereâs been credible talk about how ABC News is contemplating branding changes in the not too distant future, I do think Nine News will have to seriously consider a refresh to their On-Air Presentation soon in any case.
Nine News is currently going through a transitional phase. New studios in Perth, establishing regional news services and within the next few years or so, a move away from âthe birthplace of Australian televisionâ to new Sydney studios. To paraphrase a line that Iâve used in relation to Seven News in the past: As Nine News changes, so too should the branding of the news service!
As much as I would like to see a shiny new set (that would also be brought to the east), Iâm expecting the same situation that happened in Adelaide.
When they moved Melboure they built a new set (albeit of the same design) and were rehersing with it and the new gear for about a week before they moved across.
FYI The old desk from Melbourne went to Darwin.
