From a recent promo
why is there so much red?? where are the blue wall panels??
Queensland doesn’t have the LHS video wall, so the red just continues. They do have the light box and weather screen on the RHS though.
If they adjusted the camera angle to cut off the RHS of the set, you could try and cheat to make the set look normal.
Opener:
Love that OTS during the newsbreak. Wished they used that on the national bulletins instead of the current eye-sore.
One thing that always bugs me about the Adelaide bulletin is that they never have a proper theme song for the closer, instead it’s always the abrupt ‘good night’ followed by ACA. It’s ridiculous.
The closing theme music for the 6pm Sydney bulletin never goes for more than a few seconds anyway.
I do miss hearing an extended closer with news footage these days.
What’s even stranger is they do a proper close for the 4PM bulletin, but still do that silent close for the 6PM bulletin.
Jerrie Damasi (Nine News Perth’s Crime Reporter) didn’t even look back on the wall panel when doing the weather update as opposed to the Scherri-Lee that left for the holiday break, although she had a paper before.
Here’s my collaboration of pictures of the weather segment titlecard backdrops that Nine News Perth had used on their curve RHS including the Generic (Top-left) kind of type that was used since the introduction of the screen but later replaced with the Elizabeth Quay @ Night (Top-center) somewhere in November and the special ones (On bottom, left to right) that are used on specific types of weather-related events (Eg. heavy rain).
I actually don’t mind the silent closer, a bit different from the other cities… I remember when Melbourne & Brisbane used the older Nine News “ Cool hand luke “ theme to close their bulletins… I do miss how Perth used a different theme for their opener seen here:
And no my name is not Darrel.
OMFG
Thank you for coming, I’ll see you in hell!
With the Brobes.com photo apparently being taken in March this year, I wonder what it was/is for?
At the moment, I’d probably want to see Promo Endtags with Overton/Knight and Hitchener/Loxley together for their respective markets as a point of difference from Seven’s largely Ferguson/Mitchell-centric Promo Endtags.
A blooper start on Nine Live Perth (4/7/2018) as not only there was no music but also it went straight to the headlines.
I daresay you’ll find blown up copies plastered all over a wall in the Willoughby newsroom somewhere.
