A very nice bulletin. I think the only elements of bulletin I would change is have local backdrops for the transitions (like Seven Local Melbourne Afternoon News had on its debut) and a ‘interview’ at the desk with Pete for what’s coming up at 6. Have to say it is so much better than Sydney’s edition, recorded by @SEQTelevision :
Also nice to see someone at Nine agrees with me with Davina Smith mentioning Pete. Re here:
Promo for Nine News Brisbane (someone looked up the news cliché book for this one).
“Thank you Queensland for turning to Nine News”
“When Queensland is in crisis Nine News is with you every step of the way”
“When Queensland’s back is to the wall you can count on Nine News”.
You will recall that last month Nine were “committed to telling real stories from real people”. Seems a bit erratic, not sticking to a recognisable tag line; perhaps it’s the latest approach to TV promos?
Perth doesn’t use the plasma in front of the videowall really anymore. Mostly use the videowall now which looks decent. Looking at Adelaide’s I guess it will be identical to Melbourne. I think only Perth and Sydney got the extra videowall then after that, Nine decided to save some $ instead. Perth is really the only station that uses all the videowalls (since Today Perth news use it and also used for weather).
It’s a pity that Nine News Sydney doesn’t use the videowall to the right of the set for weather, because I think doing the weather in front of the videowall would look a bit more impactful on screen than what they do now. Although in any case, Nine News Sydney still has better weather presentation than Seven News Sydney, which persists with using chroma key for most of the segment and for whatever reason (usually) has the “7 Day Forecast” slide in SD!
Mind you, I’d personally still argue that the weather segment on Nine News Sydney would be further improved by doing something else to it, but let’s not start that debate up again!
Because it just had to be asked: Do we think the construction of Adelaide’s set has been finished yet or did the local presenters fly interstate to film some bits?
Of course once the new Nine News Adelaide set launches tomorrow night, the focus of attention will turn to QTQ. Will it be a case of “Last, but Best” for Nine News Queensland? I guess only time will tell…
Looks to me like they went to Melbourne. If you look at the shot from behind Kate and Brenton, it looks like the Melbourne studio (with the mezzanine above).
Yep, it’s definitely the Melbourne set and was clearly filmed several weeks ago judging by the detail to the right of the backdrop. No way could they turn a promo shoot around in a matter of hours, especially one as slick as that and on a weekend…
They don’t show the right hand side of the set at all which suggests that the Adelaide set will not match the Melbourne one along that side.
I walked past 9 Perth the other afternoon, the large plasma they first used in the new studio for weather is now facing the street so the public can watch the off air picture.
