Nine News Content and Appearance (2015-Sept 2020)

Maybe Melbourne didn’t want to run the risk of technical problems etc given the lead story was so sensitive.

Tonights opening shot in Sydney

That set looks amazing this way. Shame Seven couldn’t achieve this with their set. I think this set is even better than STW-9’s studio even though they’re all based off the same design.

I think these opening shots look better than launch night mostly because it shows off more of the set. I think Perth is framing their shots better at the moment and hopefully Sydney will tweak/adjust and find something that works. It’s a fantastic set, just needs to be shown off properly.

I still don’t get why those side plasma walls are there. They detract from the main curved screen IMO and make the set feel closed in.

The plasma screen worked properly for the headlines tonight:

That is when I am expecting it, a few weeks before the regional news kicks off.[quote=“ADstv, post:2409, topic:67”]
[Sydney] Headlines…

The generic ‘world’ backdrop looks really good and I also like the idea.

Perth has the new opening titles now. No location nor 9News watermark on it

I think this is it: https://decidertv.com/page/2017/1/25/nine-adds-local-afternoon-news-bulletin-for-adelaide-viewers-channel9

Starting on January 30.

Has Rob Kelvin now retired again? With Will McDonald and Alice Monfries sharing the 4pm role, it looks like McDonald will continue weekends.

whats the point of these ‘national’ bulletins now? Might as well go all local.

Im surprised they haven’t launched local editions in Melbourne and Sydney, just keep it consistent.

Who do we think would host a Melbourne afternoon bulletin? I’d have bets on Brett McLeod.
Sydney I would assume Davina Smith.

Im sure Seven Adelaide will be following soon, leading Seven Sydney to its own edition.

I can see the benefit of separate bulletins where there’s a time difference (who wants old, recorded news?), so Brisbane in summer, Adelaide, Perth make sense, but I’ll wait and see before assuming they’ll also do separate ones for Sydney, Melbourne…

Personally, I’m actually a little more interested to see if Seven will eventually do a local Afternoon News bulletin for Adelaide in response to Nine’s.

If Sydney was to ever get a local Afternoon News bulletin from Nine, I daresay that they’d just keep Davina Smith or whoever presents the current semi-national (keep in mind that Nine Darwin probably still airs this bulletin, along with NSW & Victoria) Afternoon News and probably even the national style of news presentation with the set in Studio 23.

As far as Melbourne is concerned, I wouldn’t mind getting a general idea of how well (or otherwise) the local edition of Seven’s Afternoon News rates compared to Nine’s semi-national bulletin piped down the line from Sydney…

I would be surprised if 7 did copy because they never made an attempt at local arvo when 9 Adelaide had it at 5pm and it was there for well over 2 years.

From resent rating discussions on here, it comfortably wins its time slot.

Seven seem to have been making a news push recently, so probably more likely than it was.
