There seemed to be a blooper just before the headlines⌠anyone get a cap? Seems to be quite a few tonight. New set gremlins.

That video wall certainly gives a new dimension of the definition of a âcurvedâ TV.
It would be interesting to be watching a movie or the footy on that.

Thatâs a very wide aspect ratio, there are some movies whichâd come close, but for footy thereâd be huge black bars left/right (like watching an old 4:3 show on a modern 16:9 TV).
I hope I heard incorrectly that this amazing new set is only used for 9News Sydney, and not for any of the national 9News bulletins coming out of Sydney?

It is. Look at the two logos and there are a few visual design tweaks. (Not the globe or any other of the visual elements, just the logo)
Looking at everyoneâs caps from yesterday and today, does it appear that the Sydney set doesnât have the extra big screen on the left hand side that the Perth one has?

Pretty sure when watching it the logo never changed, it just did a sort of transition thing, so itâs the same logo.

Nine News Perth so far still using their launch template. Wouldâve thought they update to the Sydney template though even itâs the same set⌠they look different.
They had no issues using the Sydney template on the promos when the promos were done in Perth!

Itâs a nice set but I just find the whole thing to be very awkward on-air. Some of the wide shots are terrible (the cross to and from weather in particular), the desk doesnât sit well in the space and that big white plasma wall off to the side really closes the set in.
The smaller Sydney studio doesnât help, nor does the new fixed track camera system. Itâs a nice upgrade but I think the fundamental design of the space is flawed. Fortunately Sydney will be getting a new set in a couple of years anyway so they can fix a few things up then!!

I think there mightâve been a slight tweak to the gloss layers or something, but the basic layout of the logo is pretty much exactly the same and didnât really need changing anyway.
In any case, personally I think some sort of update to the audio elements (theme music, transition sound effects and in the case of some markets, new Opener VOs) of Nine News should be next on the agenda once the visual side of things has finally been 100% updated in every market.

I absolutely LOVE this new set in Sydney!
I canât wait to see it rolled out across the country. It looks spectacular.
I actually quite like the presenter standing while the story is read, and I love the 9 News titlecard and transition effect on the left of the image next to the skyline image.
