Nine News Content and Appearance (2015-Sept 2020)

Wow they got there even before the people involved did they?

Haha, apparently. More ridiculous (and pointless) stuff from the graphics dept. at Nine here. :expressionless:

Thank goodness Melbourne doesn’t get this shit :joy:

We know, at least, the police were there first as the story was about an injured police officer

So now there’s

  • First on Gold Coast;
  • First on Health; and
  • First on Scene.

What’s next?

If Australians were into baseball, there’d surely be a “First on First” swipe. :stuck_out_tongue:

Not sure if mentioned already but a new very nice promo just aired on 9 Sydney featuring Overton, williams, Gardner etc on the new set.

The “News set” or the “New set”? I hope it’s the last one :grimacing:

New set. Same as Perth. It had reporters on location and the presenters on the new set with Overton presenting stories and Williams standing up for sport. Was a great promo. It said ‘Peter Overton returns to 9 new Jan 22’

Can anyone find a video, I can’t? So that is the promo Jayne Azzopardi was filming for early in December.

Yes it is. She was the first person seen in the promo talking about the weather I think.

9th Jan it seems then

Old graphics too. The current Sydney promos with current/recent news footage has an updated version of the concept.

Speaking of Nine News Sydney promos, the new one! Admittedly I’m yet to see this on air yet (although I’m sure I’ll capture it at some point), but the mention of the new set is very intriguing. I wonder if Nine might’ve even flown Sydney’s presenters to Perth to film the promo on their new set? That may partially explain the rotating door of Nine News Sydney presenters for much of the 2nd half of 2016…

If someone was to predict that the new Nine News Sydney set was to launch on January 22 when Peter Overton returns for 2017 (also interesting how Overton is returning on the 4th Sunday of January this year when he’s returned for the year on the 3rd Sunday of January for the last few), I probably wouldn’t disagree with them…

I am just thankful that the footage Jayne was filming late last year wasn’t a N orth, E ast, W est and S outh reincarnation promo, which is currently airing in Queensland ATM!

Looking forward to that.

I presume there are other versions (including the mention of Peter Overton’s return date for 2017 and Jayne talking about the weather, like TFTV said earlier), but here’s the 20 Second Promo I’ve captured so far:

Note how all the shots (at least in this version) just include one presenter. No shots of Pete & Cam together, for example. This again raises the question of whether the new Sydney set is already constructed/ready or whether they individually flew the presenters over to Perth to film promotional material on their set during the final months of 2016.

…and the tagline?

First & Best In Sydney: This tagline almost perfectly sums up Nine News Sydney.

Now, let’s see how the newsroom at Martin Place responds…

[/quote]I’d say it’s highly likely that this was filmed in Perth. Even if the set is good to go now, I doubt it would have been by early December when they’d have had to film this before all the presenters and senior staff went off on holidays.

Yep agree, its the Perth set they filmed it. Like the ANZ stadium sports background, wonder if they will change that for Perth ie: WACA in summer and Domain Stadium in winter.

It’ll be rather interesting to see how different Sydney’s version of the Nine News set will look (I presume that we’re first on the list of East Coast cities to get a new set) compared to Perth’s when actually makes it’s On-Air debut.

Hopefully the lighting will be a little less oversaturated and they go a bit easier on the plasma graphics. I don’t think I’d really like to see some of the more over the top elements on Sydney’s 6pm bulletin like the red “Breaking News” mode.
