Got it. Thanks.

Good lord, I rarely make comments on here… entitled to my opinion

This will air at 7:30PM. ACA will air at 7PM timeslot.

You are. And you’re also entitled to be challenged on assertions that Nine changed the scheduling of this game in a “ratings grab”. Never mind that it’s a wrong (and frankly bizarre) assumption -it’s one of the highest rating shows of the year anyway along with the AFL, but all commercial TV is a ratings grab.

It’s a valid assumption when SOO has been Wednesdays only for decades and now moves to Sundays. Can’t see the advantage to the regular NRL when it will conflict with the draw, use of events etc etc

It essentially moves the old international weekend from May into July, but is now a stand-alone Origin/representative weekend (no NRL games next weekend).

It means teams will have fewer games where they don’t gave access to rep players (usually they would have missed their team’s games before game two now they don’t).

Four Pacific Nations will play internationals next weekend along with New Zealand and England who are playing a test in Denver.

If Ten hasn’t already tied up the rights for Beach Cricket, then maybe Nine could look at Beach Cricket as a filler this Summer (and if a multi-year agreement, may be move it to Gem or Go should it conflict with Tennis coverage from 2020)

Beach cricket hasn’t been a thing for 9 years

Ultimately, they need something to give viewers an appetite… is the Uncle Toby’s Ironman series still a “thing”

Last held in 2001.

There was once an appetite for Jazzercise and aerobics on television but I’m not about to dig out the fluoro lycra in anticipation of their return.

What about what Ten tried 2011-2012 summer “It’s A Knockout” revival with Brad McEwan and Charlie from Hi-5? Not saying that was successful, but the format?

You want them to revive an unsuccessful format?

Like all the other old programing formats (Gladiators, Hey Hey It’s Saturday, Young Talent Time, etc.) that were briefly revived in the 2008-12ish era, I seem to recall the Summer 2011-12 incarnation of It’s A Knockout on Ten only recieving modest ratings before viewer interest quickly waned.

If Nine (or Seven…or Ten) wants to get the Australian public excited about watching TV again with a new decade not far off the horizon, they really need more innovative programming formats.

What measure are you using for success?

According to The Australian, it achieved 1m viewers on Ten beat 60 Minutes on Nine on 27 November 2011

Modest ratings??? On 27 November 2011 it was the second most watched program only beaten by Seven News that night (it achieved 1m viewers and was described as being one of Ten’s few hits that year)

OK, so you’ve quoted the figure for Episode 1 when it was the #2 program of the night. But looking back at the ratings from that time on TV Tonight…

Week 2: #6 show of the night with less than 900k metro viewers.
Week 3: #14 show of the night and barely over 700k.
Week 4: #17 show of the night and into the 500k mark!
Week 5: (Christmas Day repeat episode): #20 show of the night and in the 200k mark.
Week 6: (New Years Day repeat episode): #20 show of the night and in the 300k mark.
Week 7: Outside of the Top 20, but would’ve had less than 419k viewers.
Week 8: (which I presume was the final, with the YTT revival premiere on the following week): Again outside of the Top 20, but would’ve had less than 509k viewers.

Overall, I would not recommend reviving It’s A Knockout particularly since the Australian TV landscape has fragmented even more over the past 6-7 years.
