Nine Network - Programs and Schedules

Presumably the only reason that the Word Club Challenge Rugby League game is even being shown on the main channel in Melbourne next Friday night is because the Storm are playing in it.

This’ll bomb, but I believe Melbourne might be hosting at least one match, is this correct (Government paid money or something)?

Or maybe I was just thinking what @SydneyCityTV - Storm are in it.

Given Blue Planet II starts next Saturday, is Nine showing it in random order?

GETAWAY RETURNS FOR ITS 27TH SERIES

Saturday 17 February at 5.30pm

Australia’s longest-running travel and lifestyle program, Getaway, returns for its 27th series this Saturday, February 17, at 5.30pm on Nine and 9Now.

Join the Getaway team as they explore breathtaking locations across Australia and around the world, and offer handy holiday tips and ideas to cater for all tastes and budgets.

In the premiere episode, Catriona Rowntree will courageously confront her fear of sharks, snorkelling in the tropical waters off Fiji. Jason Dundas heads to Wanaka on New Zealand’s South Island to tackle Wildwire – the world’s highest waterfall climb. Having spent the best part of his life on the Mornington Peninsula, David Reyne shows off the sights and delights of this spectacular region. Meanwhile, Charli Robinson is in Queensland to check out the Sunshine Coast’s newest holiday park, one to satisfy the whole family.

Catriona Rowntree, who joined the Getaway team in 1996, says she is not surprised by the continued popularity of the show.

“Twenty-six years after Getaway premiered, we continue to explore the globe, and Aussies’ passion for travel seems to be infinite. We are all so grateful each time our phones ring to ask if we are able to share our journeys. It really feels like a privilege to do so,” she said.

Later in the series, the adventures will continue with Jason Dundas catching up with Robert Irwin at Australia Zoo, country music trio The McClymonts playing “quirky golf”, and Perth’s Rebecca Johns exploring the scenic sites across Western Australia.

Rowntree said: “As well as discovering holiday spots in our own backyard, our international travels this series will bring you to Hawaii, Egypt, Bali and Singapore, just to name a few. As always, we’ll inform, entertain and surprise you with some amazing locations. You’ll be inspired to start planning your next holiday. Too much travel is always a good thing!”

I notice Good Morning America is not currently airing on Nine. Does anyone know if this is this because of the Olympics? Or is it permanent?

Happens every Olympics, so I’d say that’s the reason. Interestingly CBS This Morning is still listed in the schedule, not sure if it actually screens or not.

Probably this as any Olympic footage included would count towards their network quota…

I’ve been wondering, could Nine not have programmed their new Saturday line-up more wisely? Blue Planet II should rate well and could be the biggest non-news program (excluding Winter Olympics).

But it only airs for 1 hour, which in terms of share, impacts minimally. Surely there’s other good shows Nine could’ve aired after, to capitalise? Hell, even Big Bang re-runs? Not movies that don’t rate well, especially the ones their airing from 8pm tonight.

I just think it’s a real missed opportunity. What do others think? Given Nine are actually making an effort on Saturdays over coming weeks.

(Eh, at least they’re not Ten, that’s ‘dreadful’ territory :pensive:)
