Nine Cricket Coverage

Now they have good commentary team. No play by play either

Kevin Pietersen to join Channel Nine commentary team

Wonder if today’s game is some kind of experiment. Don’t think they’ve ever had a day/nighter at North Sydney Oval

Matador Cup final live on the main channel today. Good to see it in HD. Might head down to north Sydney oval to have a watch this afternoon. Great venue.

Good to see main channel coverage. First time since 2005 or 2006 I think

Also reported from Johnson in another thread, apparantely James Brayshaw is talking to Seven and might not be doing much commentary for Nine this summer.

YHopefully James brayshaw is out of there… hate his cricket commentary.

Today shows how bad nine is at cricket… slater, tubby, healey, Chappell and Clark… could they find a worse group of useless pricks to commentate.

At least they dont have Shane Warne :stuck_out_tongue:

Seriously mate, a tad harsh. What are they too blocky for you? Do you want squares with no personality? Get over it. They do a great job, Slatter is respected around the world for his commentary. Ok they go off topic, so what? They are showing there personality and connecting with kids - who go crazy for them at the cricket.

I have had enough of reading about the disappointing nine coverage and com team! Ok the likes of Richie are gone; in which he was caulated and genius behind the mic. Yes it’s all Australian - it’s broadcast crowd is Australian people and for the up coming summer there is an international flavour, which I think is awesome. I do sit by waiting for the keyboard hacks to start complaining about the international people on the coverage - news.ltd I am talking about you…

Ok ten have Waugh, Fleming, Gilly, yes they are good but the blowogist gets annoying, Waugh Sydney focus is unbrearable at times, and hits Adelaide for six every time he can!!

Ok I am from Adelaide and yes nine talk about our oval as one of the greatest in world, and I would rather have a nico at nine talking about how good this place is, instead of Waugh bagging it. Positive reenforcement is always more powerful than negativity.

Everyone has there views of both nine/ten coverage but come on bagging someone just cause it’s nine is getting old. For 40 years they have changed cricket on to more than any other international network, basically placing a camera at either end was mind blowing in its day, to now we have hot spot and so much more.

I am a cricket follower, have travelled the world to see cricket, for me it’s on free Tv, live and free. I see what’s happening to motor sport/basketball etc in this country since it went to Foxtel, and viewing of the sport is below par. For me as long as the next generation can watch the sport free and live every summer cricket is in good hands no matter who is commentating cause there is always a mute button, ABC local grandstand or just turning it off and heading out to the game instead.

Shane Warne is the best cricket analysist in world cricket commentry in my opinion. (But he can get off topic and talk about ‘dirty rotten pizzas’)

I don’t mind Tubby and Clarky actually but the rest can go off topic a lot except for Chappelli, who just bores me out a lot of the time.

Yeah I probably shouldn’t judge him on his commentating considering I havent heard him commentate. I normally listen to alternative commentating rather than Nine’s. I just don’t particularly like Shane Warne.

Brad McNamara, is that you? Even aside from the million spelling mistakes, what a dopey little bit of commentary from you. As if acting like a buffoon equals personality. And as if their ocker, inane “personalities” connect with kids.

I actually can’t imagine that a mature, adult person would even think let alone write what you have said.

We’re bagging it because it’s shit, not because it’s Nine.

Yeah great reason for accepting substandard commentary. Because, if we did have quality commentary, it would totally mean the sport disappeared to Foxtel the next day. Jesus Christ.

Slater has just become a buffoon, Mark Taylor can’t string together a sentence and sounds like he’s constipated each time he forces something out of his mouth, Healy generally doesn’t have anything clever to say, Chappell is the grumpiest old fart out there, and Clarke is as likeable as Lara Bingle.

Compare Nine’s top level cricket commentary team with, for example, Seven’s top level AFL commentary team, and you’ll realise just how shit Nine are.

Thank God Lee and Hussey are out at least.

Although I agree with you, I need to ask the question is there anyone you do like?

Very good summary from you.

Although I did think Hussey was a decent analyst.

When it comes to talking cricket alone, Ponting and Warne are the best analysts in the business.

No Brayshaw either it seems? Anyone else missing?

Hopefully Brayshaw doesn’t play a part. And hopefully Bill Lawry does!

James Brayshaw gone from Channel 9 cricket commentary team

CHANNEL 9 has announced divisive commentator James Brayshaw will not continue with the iconic commentary team this summer of cricket.

The Nine Network has announced its cricket broadcast schedule for this summer and confirmed former Aussie Test captain Michael Clarke and former English rival Kevin Pietersen have been added to the commentary team.

Brayshaw was nowhere to be mentioned anywhere in the announcement.

Article includes speculation of AFL Footy Show hosting and possible move to Seven.

Prepare your ears: Nine names cricket commentary team with one big absentee

Channel Nine has named their commentary team for the first Test between Australia and South Africa, with one much-maligned commentator seemingly missing out on a gig for this year’s season opener.

James Brayshaw, one of Nine’s more-criticised members of their cricket coverage, appears set to spend the South African series away from the microphone, with Daniel Brettig tweeting the commentator won’t be on Nine’s team when the summer of cricket begins next Thursday.
