Nickelodeon (formerly 10Shake)

maybe Peach > Comedy Central next?
dunno what cable brand would work best for Bold lol

Paramount Network?

I see what you’re saying re the strength of the brand, however by being just Nickelodeon with no 10 in the name, it does kind of take a nick out of 10 as a local brand.
It’d look to some as it’s just an American brand with no local connection / association.

Surely adding 10 in the name creates an association, and if it’s successful ties back to 10 in people’s minds.

It is though…

And I think it can also be inferred that the strength of the 10 brand is already in the toilet…

I agree. I suspect it will do nothing to improve ratings and in fact moving away from 10 branding risks losing viewers.

10 Shake was never really a strong brand… arguably Bold and Peach aren’t strong brands either.

I don’t see the need for the local connection - surely we’re not that parochial that we need that 10 attachment to the international brand name

If anything they need a point of differentiation to the Foxtel channel of the same name - 10Nick sounds clunky, though not much worse than 10Shake

Exactly.

Eleven did very well as Eleven and not 10two or 10Eleven etc

But the Foxtel channel is closing

OK, fair enough. The Foxtel linear channel platform is nearly obsolete at this point. If not for the sport channels I don’t think it would be still running.

Its definately a different model to UK.

I think that’s a bit dramatic. I don’t think viewers who are interested in the content will turn away just because there isn’t a “10” in the branding.

Graveyard :stuck_out_tongue:

I can’t see it picking up viewers more viewers with the rebrand. Time will tell.

If anything it’ll loose viewers I reckon.

Nickelodeon would have stronger brand recognition than 10Shake IMO. But it’s the content that will drive interest.

Less adult content in the evenings may lead to a drop in viewership

Will there be less to what’s there now?

and that’s the reason Nick@Nite is launching as well - to retain adult content in the evenings

Nick@Nite will still have shows like The Middle, Graham Norton and Gogglebox UK, similar to what’s on now on 10Shake. Otherwise, it will just be like ABCME.

Currently, The Middle starts at 6pm on Weekdays, and has triple episodes each night. Not sure what time Nickelodeon will finish and the new “adult portion” (aka Nick@Nite) will start.
