This went to air last night on the 6pm bulletin and it really shows NewsHub’s graphic team need a crash-course in NZ geography or at least they should stop using the weather-warning map for non-weather related boundaries.

There are plenty of maps online to check this sort of stuff, and to be quite frank, I would have thought a 30 year old plus newsroom would have templates with council boundaries, health-boards, even electoral boundaries.

I’ll give you a hint, South Canterbury covers the four southern-most Councils in the map (and occasionally Ashburton, depending on the agency). Compare this with what NewsHub bought to air last night. I bet it surprised viewers from Dunedin to learn their DHB had been taken over.

No I don’t think it continued for long after Kim Vinnell left TV3 for Al Jazzera (2017). Unless I am thinking of something else…

I don’t think so. It appears they’ve canned all of their digital-only type shows - including The Rundown, which was on Facebook Live most weeknights before the 6pm bulletin. Probably due to resourcing being used elsewhere during COVID.

Who do we reckon will replace Tova?
I would have suggested Lloyd given he has just come back from overseas but now has a radio show himself. Jenna would step in quite capably, I’m sure or perhaps a print reporter like Henry Cooke.

Henry is too good a journalist for Newshub’s sensational style… Jenna Lynch is a practitioner of the Duncan / Patrick / Tova style of reporting so would suit well.

Tova’s departure is a big loss for Newshub/Three.
Thought Three might have made her the host of the revamped AM Show in order to prevent this very outcome from happening.

Yes she is better suited to TV as doesn’t have publicly espoused right-wing views like Ryan Bridge who is better suited to talkback.
