It’s been reported that Newshub Late will broadcast its final bulletin tonight at 9:55pm.

With only 35 days until the news division closes, it will only leave only just 2 news shows (6pm & AM Show) which both will air their final editions on July 5.

Three’s late night bulletin started in 1990 named Nightline and continued to be it until 2013 when it was replaced by The Paul Henry Show in 2014, and another change in 2015 as Newsworthy. And Newshub Late as we know it since 2016 until tonight.

It’ll now leave with no late night news bulletins across New Zealand from next week. Another loss for the news industry.

This means there’ll be no midday, midafternoon (say 4pm or 4.30pm) or late night news - just 6pm.

Gosh, it’s beginning to feel very real now.

It marks one month from today until Newshub closes. Not too far away.

The Newshub website (newshub.co.nz) will cease to exist after July 5th.

I would’ve thought they’d redirect it to another domain that matches the new bulletin name, and host the content there. They can still post clips and full bulletins, along with other content from Stuff.

Suely they will… unless there traffic levels really are that dire.

Not really from the looks of it.

In April, Stuff had a unique audience of 2.1 million, the NZ Herald 1.96 million, Newshub 1.3 million, RNZ 1.2 million and 1News 787,000, according to Nielsen figures.

Seems a bit of a waste, but imagine it’d be redundant keeping two news sites around with Stuff being the bigger party of the two.

I’d be more wary of the Newshub YouTube, some really good videos there stretching all the way back to 3News. Might need to archive some of the more notable clips sooner than later.

I imagine that’ll just be kept dormant? A YouTube page costs nothing, whereas a whole website would cost domain fees at the VERY least.

Hopefully if they do eventually take it down or make it a redirect to Stuff they properly archive the years of articles

Bad archiving is a huge problem when trying to find old news articles or things to cite so would hope they take some measures

Two weeks until Newshub closes, just wondering has anyone archived stuff from them just in case of lost media.

Consider this, archived on MS…

Mike Puru (weather) and Laura Tupou (newsreader) also had their last day as well under the Newshub banner congratulating and thanking viewers. Super Sport Sunday held its final weekly segment but sadly nothing special there.
