Yeah I’d have thought so, too. Personally I’ve never seen the point of a separate weather presenter if they’re not actually a meteorologist, but we’ve had that discussion before… will be very interesting to see just how different this new show looks.
Quite interesting to read the opinions since the Stuff WBD deal was announced… particularly Mark Jennings who as it turns out was in the running
I don’t think people worry about the presentation as much as he makes out
If that is the case Paul Henry/ The AM Show’s tv/radio simulcast show would never have been a success. Remembering they pointed a camera at a couple of screens for the weather for the first few years which looked terrible and the studio was tiny, visually it was nothing special. Also TVNZ Breakfast has continued since covid to interview via zoom, even politicians when they could make the short trip to their wellington studios. does it matter? these days, probably not.
I did laugh at Glen Kyne’s excitement for Stuff’s plan to innovate the 6pm news. Like they haven’t had years to do just that and create a real point of difference to 1.
Just my 2c.
Just plain “Three News” appears to be in the running as the new bulletins branding.

i think it’s a good move. it allows for change in production companies but keeping the brand the same.
Lets hope WBD have a logo rebrand coming soon or +HR=E News is going to look pretty amateur …
Warner Bros Discovery seems to have officially submitted the trademark ‘Three News’ for consideration on April 15, 2024, as per the official filing lodgement.

Yes, as mentioned in the tweet posted above.
I don’t think that will go down well at all with the 3 News veterans
With all the job cuts, it’s not like there’ll be any 3 News veterans left
so looking forward to +HR=E N=WS
Paying homage to their pre-2016 branding.
They could hardly call it “Stuff News” though I suppose that’s what WBD did.
They could…it’s an odd brand but it would work fine in NZ.
NZ loves shit names and brands: Sky Open, Newshub, Stuff, +HR=E
Stuff Daily could have worked, maybe.
They could, but it sounds very odd.
Yes, but given Stuff has a 20+ history of being the country’s number one news site I’m sure people would cope. Maybe not people on this forum, but NZers.
Yep, but I think branding it as Three News is the correct approach. Straight to the point.
I don’t disagree
