Has Mike Puru become a permanent weather presenter for Newshub? Every weekend bulletin and even some weeknights I have seen recently he has been doing it, been a few months now I reckon.
His Flava co-hosts kept mentioning Newshub as to why he was leaving radio, so maybe it is a permanent gig now?

He’s on The Traitors NZ, and in the promo material for that he was advertised as ‘Newshub weatherman Mike Puru’ so you may be onto something. Does Alex O’Hara still do any weather?

No, she left in march. As far as I’m aware Mike is the permanent weekend weather presenter and a fill in weekday presenter.

They flew up Juliet Speedy from the Christchurch newsroom to do the weather for a weekend 1-2 months ago too. She did a decent job of it.

Think it’s safe to say after 1 News’ latest graphics fail Newshub is going to look 1000x better on election night.
Who they get to front it will be interesting as they are a little light compared to other years without Tova and Garner. Paul Henry has said no to election coverage as well.
Possibly Gower, Ryan Bridge, Rebecca Wright + gallery team.
Meanwhile no shortage of hosts at 1 News… Simon, Hilary, JC, Daniel Faitaua, Anna Burns-Francis, Katie Bradford comes to mind.

Suspect it’ll be Hilary and JC or Jack leading with Simon on numbers/electorates. Suspect some of those others will be dispatched to party HQs or outside the houses of the leaders.

Rebecca, Ryan and Paddy seems to me to be the best combo and I do hope thats what they go for.
I have a feeling Isobel Ewing will also feature in studio as well, she seems to be a popular fill in at newshub.
I also hope they use Orinii, I really enjoyed her giving her opinion and being a panelist rather than the one interviewing when she featured on Newshub Nation a month or 2 ago

Newshub has always been my go-to on election night so it’ll be interesting to see how they handle it this year.
