Clive Palmer more than wasted his money with the full page ads on pages 2 and 3 if nobody reads page 2.
Clive got what he wanted
Full page is more noticeable than a small article embedded in the page though.
Those polls arenât worth
Opinion polls are never to be believed by anyone, ever again.
Most of the public have been of that opinion for years, itâs the idiots inside the media bubble, desperately trying to sell copies to keep their job that kept spruiking it. Most privately would know what rubbish they are.
Itâs interesting that News Corp is finally following Fairfax in launching a digital news site. Nine-owned Fairfax has been running Brisbane Times and WA Today for the past decade.
Using existing News Ltd content wonât see them get too far in Canberra. Media measurement for radio and TV in Canberra prove that time and time again.
I wonder when the paywall will come.
Opinion polls are merely that - polls of opinion. Iâm not sure at what point they became supposed oracles of the future.
Theyâre still a good way to canvas opinion, but they should go hand-in-hand with decent journalism. Additionally, every poll coming up with the same result is about a 1000:1 chance, so obviously some more scrutiny needs to be done into how the results are come to.
In the end, the Ipsos poll at least, actually fairly accurately predicted Labor first preferences. It just got the preference flows wrong.
But, that is the realm of the poll. Itâs not that polls should never be believed again - certainly there is some scientific basis to them. Itâs that the reporting surrounding them needs to change.
Polls can also spur voters one way or another, and become self-fulfilling⊠or not.
The quality of news reporting and overall journalism is what needs to lift substantially, not (just or necessarily) the quality and methodology of polling.
News Corp has closed two Quest community newspaper titles in Brisbane: City North and City South, and also stopped printing Maribyrnong Leader in Melbourneâs west (this week is the last printed edition), but its digital edition will continue. However you will have to subscribe to a Herald Sun digital package in order to read the articles.
This is great news, they have been rubbish titles for successive terms of âleadershipâ at News Ltd.
Sending the Brisbane News in its place will go down a treat in the many suburbs within the City North and South News areas that are completely at odds with the idea of the Brisbane News. West End, Rocklea, Albion and Lutwyche down by the rail line, arenât interested in what the snobs are doing in the Brisbane News.
The Brisbane news last week began classifieds in the back of its publication, beyond the real estate which really keeps it afloat. It also has faced many cutbacks and editorially, a shadow of what it once was.
GQ Australia owner News Corp needs to explain how this could possibly happen. The photos should never have been kept.
Good chance itâs no-one from GQ themselves
The photographer said he didnât leak the photos either.
Kudos to 9 for running both sides.
News Corp also launched another regional online-only title The Illawarra Star on April 1. The articles however are only accessible via a digital subscription of The Daily Telegraph.
