The ABC must have paid a lot of attention to the seat of Higgins. Last month Jon Faine hosted his morning show in Armadale, across the road from Malvern Town Hall. Later, Tamara Oudyn did a drive around, interviewed some locals, then presented a live cross from Toorak Park for the 7pm TV news.

Out on a limb, was News Breakfast extended just to fit in a love interview slot for Morrison? I’d figure he would be making the TV rounds and be constrained by a tight travel schedule

Extended edition for coverage on the death of former Prime Minister Bob Hawke last night. Shorten and Morrison were both interviewed making final pitches to voter’s this morning,and both leaders paid tribute to Bob Hawke .

Oh, I knew the death of Hawke was a big deal, though I didn’t figure it would make sense for ABC to start just half an hour early instead of a whole hour or just on time.
I figured bookings for both the PM and Shorten would be fast and spurious for the AM shows in the context for both Hawke and the elections and figured that Morrison had to get going after plowing through the interviews.
Edit: Just saw caps of Morrison’s second News Breakfast hit at 7:30 AEST. My theory goes out the window, I guess.
