Michael and Virginia returned today.
Not the usual type of promo you see…

[/quote] A type of promo Sunrise would have done 10 years ago. Maybe it was just because Australia Day was following.
After all the controversy surrounding Sunrise and Today, and following the article the other day about how good ABC News Breakfast is, I have given it a chance. It is actually extremely watchable. I have watched it since Thursday and also Weekend Breakfast. I will give it a few more weeks but I can see myself switching over permanently. Well done team!

what controversy surrounding Today?
More so Sunrise, but Today is no better really. You hardly can ever get News, sport and weather in one hit. Both shows are a mess at the moment in terms of content.

ok, but you alluded to a “controversy” - whereby none really exists - so I was confused.
You might think that both shows “are a mess” (I agree to an extent) but over 600,000 people disagree on a daily basis.

[/quote] News Breakfast is actually a really good show. I personally hate the weekend version unless Kath Robinson is on ( she was this weekend) so maybe it is the presenters. Virginia and Michael have great chemistry and are not at all limited to expressing their views or the views of those watching plus Vanessa’s weather reports are at most comprehensive and the addition of Deli, Ii think her name is, was great. Sometimes some of the packages about the environment are sometimes boring and for someone who hates sport, I prefer a sports wrap as seen on Sunrise. It is a decent show, and not as formal as some assume.

Something looks different this morning. Paul and Vanessa on LIVE on the Yarra River, so I know it must be something to be with the set. I am not sure whether it is a green screen, different lighting or from the Sydney studios. I just can’t put my finger on it.
I noticed that insiders and off siders were both from Sydney yesterday. Wonder if something is wrong with Melbourne studio or are they coming from Sydney All the time now?
Melbourne is having some work done - last week the 7pm news came from Perth.

[/quote] Back in Melbourne studios today. Plus, Paul Kennedy is away so sport is being done as an OB with Steve, I think, the one with the accent.
Since Friday, Paul Kennedy and Del Irani have co-hosted. Vanessa remains on the weather.
Virginia is back Monday April, 4.

Can I just say that Del is a revelation as co-host. She has always been a great, articulate business presenter but she has real depth and cut through as main host. A worthy deputy to Virginia and now a rising star. Poachable.

[/quote] Noticed Del is co-hosting again this week despite her saying Virginia is back and she will return to Finance. I don’t mind her, IMO she is a really good business and finance presenter, but I have always liked Bev O’Connor in the hosting role.
Virginia returned this morning and Michael will return from holidays next week.
