Again, why are they there?
On the first day they said it was to shine a light on issues affecting that area of the world including with the release of the climate change report for the reef and islands and heading north to the cultural festival and close to PNG for the 50th anniversary.
Ok cool!
Thursday Island again with the News Breakfast sign looking a bit lonely as far as set decorations go.
Guess the junket was too much for Bridget to work a full week.
Monday (22.09.2025): Charles Brice on news. The first time he has presented in months.
Wednesday (24.09.2025): Emma Rebellato is co-hosting with James today. There is no separate newsreader. Nate is presenting the weather from Tasmania.
Thursday (25.09.2025): Emma Rebellato is co-hosting with James. Charles Brice reading the news.
**Monday (29.09.2025) - Tuesday (30.09.2025):** Emma Rebellato and Catherine Murphy are co-hosting. Charles Brice is presenting sport. There is no separate newsreader.
One can only assume that the ABC is getting ROI from Bridgette Brennan. Also, why are the B-team not apparently allowed to sit at the big desk?
Make Rebellato the permanent co-host and be done with it. Bridgid would probably appear more than she does now if she filled in for Rebellato.
Wednesday (01.10.2025): Catherine Murphy is co-hosting with James. Charles Brice is reading news and sport.
Emma and Nate are live from the Perth Royal Show.
Nate is milking a cow at the moment.
Is that what they call it.
They’re certainly spending a lot of money on travel lately, with no commensurate increase in audience when they visit those cities.
But Nate and co are probably accumulating a lot of frequent flyer points. ![]()
I could not agree more that Emma should be the main female presenter, although she effectively is, given the roles are constantly changing and Emma appears to be nearly always on the set in some capacity. She is simply more mature and confident, with a delightful sense of humour.
I feel sorry for Emma, as I believe that she relocated to Melbourne from Adelaide to further her career, but came up against the ABC box-ticking selection policy, and News Breakfast ticks them all! Unfortunately, after about a year of this format, I find the chemistry is lacking. I was once an avid viewer, but find myself increasingly giving it a miss.
They’re a public service broadcaster, you can argue that visiting parts of the country to be closer to their audience and the people who fund the ABC is an important thing to do. It’s never going to be the big show and dance Today and Sunrise do, which is always just an extended ad for a location or an event.
