100% agree.
Rumors circulate about departing Weekend Sunrise host Matt Doran joining ABCās News Breakfast in 2025.
One analyst claims that "I donāt really see any potential talent within the current ABC lineup for breakfast television.
Matt is originally from Melbourne. Iām sure moving back to his hometown could be a strong possibility."

Daily Mail, hire me as a journo. Think Iāve written Article of The Year right here.
For the next two weekends at least, Weekend Breakfast will finish at 10:30am instead of 11am - also due to Insiderās being on itās summer break, Weekend Breakfast will continue through the 9am-10am slot on the news channel.
I donāt know why everyone is talking about Matt Doran doing it anyway. Itās going to be James Glenday. Even a blind ant can see that.
If weāre gonna be pedantic (as is the MediaSpy way
) then Juanita came to the ABC after several years working in London for CNN (and before that, the BBC). She didnāt go straight from an Aussie commercial network to the ABC.
Zan Rowe announced yesterday (via a video clip on her Facebook page) that she would be ending the weekly music news segment she has hosted on News Breakfast for ten years.
It is the view to the lobby but it also looks out to Southbank streets in Melbourne, Itās a nice view.
Monday December 9 and Tuesday December 10
Emma Rebellato will be presenting the weather
What has happened to Nate? He has been absent for a long time, though occasionally popping up in the show.
Guides indicate that he is back at this stage on Wednesday (though donāt hold your breath since itās News Breakfast after all
)
Also
Saturday 14 December and Friday 15 December
Kathryn Robinson will be filling in for Fauziah Ibrahim on Weekend Breakfast
Interesting to see the āadvertisementā tag there
Step One
I just wanted to give an observation regarding this mornings Weekend Breakfast program.
I tuned in for the beginning of the program at 7am and noticed a severe lack of local news.
The whole opener except for one headline (at the very end mind you) was all overseas based news.
They then proceeded to give further and more information regarding said headlines. They didnāt mention any local Australian news until 7:09am. Thatās a very long time.
Is this normal? I think local stories should always have priority over overseas stories. Surely viewers want to know what is happening in their own country before getting to anywhere else in the world?
I donāt normally watch the Weekend program at that time, but even later in the program it looks like there is still more of a focus on overseas news at the top of the hour - program is probably done by skeleton crew who probably find it easier to pull stuff from overseas feeds.
Still not good enough though - they have 60 newsrooms, yet they seem to be focusing on long form content for web rather than breaking news content around the clock - wouldnāt be too hard to get a few reporters on the road, or at least someone at Parliament for example to talk about politics, etc.
Itās a truly awful program if Iām being brutally honest.
From the presenters to the content to the appearance.
Just woeful all round.
The only good thing about the presenters is at least they actually have a more consistent attendance record than the weekday crew - though in this case to also be brutally honest, I wouldnāt mind if they were away more often as itās actually better to watch when one or both of them are absent.
They are decent newsreaders when theyāve done the standard bulletins in the past, and Joanna is actually half-decent when paired with someone like Kathryn Robinson, but together they just donāt make a good breakfast pair.
Fauziah is the one who needs to get the boot.
100% - IMO she shouldāve been removed after the whole saga with her Twitter lists.
Depends how significant the local news is though. If theyāre just covering house fires and car crashes like Sunrise and Today often do, compared to big overseas news like the downfall of a dictatorship then I would say overseas news should be at the top.
We can agree on that. She is a big turn-off for News Breakfast.
I will concede that today is probably one the dayās where international news actually deserved to be at the top of the program, however, it still feels like each day they are just using international news to fill large gaps in the rundown, and interviews on generic lifestyle content, to fill the gap.
