Newcastle Radio

Not his decision btw.

I gathered as such, I haven’t heard him on weekdays a heap since Lu & Jarch. Rumours started swirling then.
It’s unfortunate as he’s a great operator.

Just seen a video on Hit socials that Ducko is leaving the show at the end of the year for a new opportunity that was too good to pass up. He made mention that Hit didn’t want him leave.

Anyone know where he is off to and who might replace him?

There was a rumour it was Nova Brisbane but not confirmed.

Just saw this on Facebook, someone from Newcastle defaulting to the Melbourne stream.

I’ve been saying this for a while, the app should show the Newcastle stations based on the phone’s location, it just doesn’t.

I wonder how many hundreds of thousands of people in Newcastle listens to Melbourne and local ads aren’t heard by people.

Listnr gives you the same ads regardless of which Triple M or Hit station you listen to (is based on your IP address), but yes, you’d get the Melbourne content for news and everything else if listening to FOX or 105.1 Triple M.

wow so local advertisers aren’t heard on the app??

Even on 9Now they’ll play ā€œpersonalised adsā€ in the app, but the the app will still cut back to the NBN feed early during the ad break for the local ad window.

I have heard some Newcastle ads on Listnr, but they may not be the ones you hear at the same time on FM

I’m not sure how the ad pricing works, but I suspect it costs more to be on both FM and Listnr.

There might be a little bit more to this one - the pinned location (above the media box) is a Melbourne CBD address and that comes from Apple Maps.

You get localised ads based on your location - because there are no SCA stations near where I live, I get local ads for Coffs and Port Macquarie and any national ads they carry

I’m told you can advertise just on Listnr

I know this is on a slightly different tangent. But does Kayo do something similar? Cause i occasionally see ads for the Newcastle Permanent. Or do they advertise on Foxtel as a whole. Considering like the Greater Bank their operations are only really in Northen New South Wales

91.20 ?

Not often FM frequencies include the second number after the dot point

They have branches elsewhere - some in Sydney and around Wollongong. They actually sponsor the Illawarra Hawks in the NBL believe it or not!

At least they’re being thoughtful turning it off at 10pm!

Must be another low power job.

Yes it can only be heard 50m away from the house, the nearest station on that frequency is a mine rebroadcast transmitter in the Hunter Valley.

There is also C91.3 Campbelltown, but unlikely to interfere with it out in Fletcher unless there is very strong tropo.

Couldn’t get any trace of 91.2 here at Charlestown last night, but I did hear a nearby station that sounds like it’s playing Christmas music on 91.5… but also only until 10pm… after that, I could hear Triple J Coffs Harbour.

A post was merged into an existing topic: NRL coverage

105.3 New FM has an online stream back on their website. Not sure if it’s permanent or not. 2HD also has an online stream. Welcome to modern day radio Newcastle BOG stations.

Does this mean it will be relayed via Radio apps or not?

I have no idea. I’m only a listener going off what I found whilst browsing the New FM website. They may put the stream on other apps but then again it would cost them more money to use third party apps and the Super Network doesn’t like spending money. The website is better than nothing I guess.

If you contact the app people and request they add the station they will if possible, it’s worked for me in the past. Probably helps the app and station too.
