I came across the outage on Triple M… I’m guessing it only lasted 15 mins or so as I had tuned into NEW and 2NUR a few mins before and they were both on air, so had initially thought it was specific to Triple M until I saw your post.
Triple M came back on around 11.45am mid way through a song (I assume that’s NEW and 2NUR came back on air).
Triple M acknowledged the outage around 11.55am “we’re back! Yes, an outage took Mt Sugarloaf, but if you were listening on Listnr you wouldn’t know, we were fine”).
Went the long way home via Port Stephens and back now. For the Newcastle folk is 95.9 FM on a ABC Local on air? Here is Mount Gan Gan. 1233 am was a bit crap in the car but couldn’t find 95.9.

Should have been there from about Nerong through to Lake Macquarie. Did you have 95.1 or 98.3?
Yeah I had the other ABC. It was only a short visit, it’s lovely around there but didn’t have much time to dx. The new car radios don’t make it easy to manually tune. It is buried in the menu, and stations are listed by RDS rather than frequencies. Plus when using waze via Android Auto you can’t easily see the frequency. Whilst driving it’s all too hard and a bit unsafe if the frequency is not locked in. It was too easy to use the app , just press play to listen to the footy which I did.
It is interesting driving back on the freeway and just around the Toronto exit the emergency broadcaster is 702 am and 1233 am. Quite a fair distance from Liverpool there when compared to 1233 am. Probably if high power FM frequencies became available 2nc should convert. 1233am doesn’t seem to get out all that well. Possibly it just needs tweaks, I recall reading here Newcastle AM transmitters needs maintenance (especially 2hd). Maybe the same can be said of 2nc. Perhaps I am not that familiar with that area and it has always been average thus the repeater was required in Port Stephens.

What kind of car were you in?
1233 is good in most directions, to the north is it’s weakest. But even then I did notice I can get weak 1233 in the daytime even in Port Macquarie.
And agree that newer cars make using the radio much harder than it used to be (or needs to be). Voice commands can help, but even its functions are often limited.
I got a Kia Carnival from 2018 but it is a 2019 model. No easy way to tune by voice, the Mazda can do that. I am interested to know when you have the chance to see if 95.9 FM is on air. I swear previously it was on 95.7 FM ?
Yeah I could get 1233 up north but it wasn’t a local grade reception in Port Stephens. Maybe if it had the same power as 702 am or 549 it would boom into there.
Yes it’s still on 95.9…was on air as normal this morning, could possibly have been a temporary glitch when you were passing through.
It did use to be 95.7, was moved to 95.9 just before News Radio came on air on 95.1 to make room for it around 2011.

No it doesn’t… none of the Port Stephens ABCs have RDS (just checked all three then), but I’ve been checking regularly for at at home and in the car.
I should have taken a photo now I am unsure it had RDS given your post 
. I need to plan another holiday there…
