BBC WORLDWIDE ANZ SECURES SECOND COMMISSION FOR TUESDAY’S CHILD’S YOU’RE BACK IN THE ROOM

BBC Worldwide Australia & New Zealand (ANZ) has secured a commission with TVNZ for a local version of You’re Back in the Room, the hit UK format from production company Tuesday’s Child.

The local New Zealand series of the show is being produced by Screentime New Zealand and will air on TV2. Applications for contestants are now open, and a host will be announced in due course.

This is BBC Worldwide ANZ’s second commission for the series, with an Australian version of the show for Channel Nine announced last year. Hosted by Daryl Somers, the show is being produced by FremantleMedia Australia and will air on Nine shortly.

You’re Back in the Room is a comedy game show with a unique twist. A team of strangers take on a series of apparently simple challenges, but all is not as it seems, as each of the contestants has been hypnotised. Seemingly straightforward tasks will get much harder as their hypnotic triggers cause them to unwittingly sabotage their chances of winning, with hilarious consequences.

How well the contestants overcome their hypnotic hindrances will determine the cash prize they walk away with.

Following its successful UK debut on primetime ITV in the UK, the Tuesday’s Child format has been commissioned by Fox for the USA, French Network W9, Colombia’s RCN, Slovenia’s Pro Plus and the Netherlands’ RTL. ITV has also commissioned a second series.

Karen Smith, CEO of Tuesday’s Child, said: “We are incredibly proud of our unique format and the success that it has generated. I have no doubt that You’re Back in the Room will continue its global appeal with New Zealand audiences embracing this unforgettable and entertaining show.”

Helen Pendlebury, Head of Business Development, BBC Worldwide ANZ, said: “You’re Back in the Room is perfect entertainment for all the family and we’re delighted to be bringing this innovative format to audiences in both Australia and New Zealand.”

PROPERTIES FROM TV ONE’S OUR FIRST HOME HIT THE MARKET

Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, 7.30pm on TV ONE.

The families on Our First Home have been working tirelessly to transform three tired and dated Auckland properties into stunning family homes, and now interested buyers have the chance to view them as the homes hit the market.

An uber stylish entertainer’s paradise, a fabulous family oasis and a family retreat close to the city – there’s something on offer for everyone looking for their next place to call home.

Based in West Auckland, the homes in Te Atatu South and Henderson have been fully renovated and redesigned: floor plans reconfigured, bedrooms and bathrooms added, living areas created that capitalise on the inside-outside flow that Kiwis long for – all to give buyers the very best home that they can happily call their own.

Auckland’s leading real estate company, and show partner, Barfoot & Thompson is managing the listings of all three properties. Interested buyers are invited to attend the open homes which will be held over the coming weeks.

All the listing details are available at www.barfoot.co.nz or by contacting a Barfoot & Thompson salesperson directly.

The properties will be sold at auction in mid-April over the three night Live Auction Week special event.

Each family will keep whatever money they make over the reserve price. Whichever family makes the most profit percentage gain on original purchase will win an additional $100,000 for their kids’ first house deposit.

Last year all three families won big on the show, with the winning Schreuder family walking away with a staggering $290,400. But anything can happen at auction!

The multi-night reality series has been a hit with audiences. Our First Home is consistently the most watched show in its timeslot, with season two is averaging a total audience of 313,000 AP5+. *Nielsen TAM, overnights data

Ready for Rio: most extensive free-to-air broadcast coverage of a Paralympic Games on its way

New Zealand viewers can look forward to the most extensive live and free-to-air coverage of a Paralympic Games to date, says the team of partners behind this year’s multiplatform broadcast offering.

TVNZ and rights holders Attitude Pictures have today announced plans for more than 180 hours of coverage dedicated to the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games, held from 7-18 September this year. The extensive coverage is made possible with support from NZ On Air and with ACC as the broadcast sponsor.

The New Zealand team’s performances will be the focus of all live and highlights programme coverage co-produced by TVNZ and Attitude Pictures with the assistance of Paralympics New Zealand.

Viewers can catch Games action as it happens every day on TVNZ’s fully live streamed TV channel DUKE, together with extensive delayed and highlights coverage. Along with ONE News coverage, a special highlights programme will air every night on TV ONE and will be available online through TVNZ OnDemand and AttitudeLive.com. Full coverage details will be announced in the build up to the event.

In a world first, the production team of the highlights programmes is led by three Paralympic Gold medallists: wheelchair rugby athlete Jai Waite will take the lead as programme editor, the anchor in Rio will be former captain of the New Zealand Wheel Blacks Dan Buckingham, and former Paralympic cyclist Paula Tesoreiro will be reporting from the field.

Jeff Latch, TVNZ’s Director of Content, says: “We’re very proud to be part of a team effort bringing viewers the most comprehensive free-to-air coverage of a Paralympic Games in New Zealand’s history. The Games will have a dedicated home on DUKE and we’ll share the best moments on TV ONE, TVNZ OnDemand and ONE News Now. The Paralympic Games is one of the top multisport events in the world and we think New Zealand viewers will embrace the opportunity to cheer on our Kiwi athletes.”

Robyn Scott-Vincent, CEO and founder of The Attitude Group, says the company has spent 12 years building the profile of Paralympic sport and public awareness of disability. "We’ve built a team that knows these Games from the inside and can deliver real insights of the sport and lived experience of disability. Delivering these games and the performances of some great Kiwi athletes to New Zealand screens is part of our continued drive to raise expectations of what’s possible for people who live with disability.”

Scott Pickering, ACC Chief Executive, says: “New Zealand’s para-athletes are among the best in the world and are role models for all Kiwis. ACC is proud to help bring coverage of the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games to New Zealand and to showcase our athletes’ awesome achievements as they compete on the world stage.”

Fiona Allan, Paralympics New Zealand’s CEO, says: “We are thrilled to give our support to the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games broadcast team. This level of coverage is unprecedented in this country and for the first time reflects the stature of the New Zealand Paralympic team on the world stage. The team finished first in the world per capita for medals at the London 2012 Paralympic Games, a title we hope to retain in Rio later this year by targeting 18 medals and hoping to increase our gold medals from 6 to 12. We wish to thank TVNZ, Attitude Pictures, NZ On Air and ACC for their unrelenting commitment to showcasing the achievements of our elite Paralympians to the New Zealand public.”

The Café is an upcoming New Zealand morning television magazine lifestyle show. It is due to start on the 11th of April 2016. Hosts of the show include Mike Puru and Mel Holmer.

Erm no. While the flow of religious programming through to My Wife and Kids and then the Simpsons is undeniable, it’s hard to see TV2 moving its strong early evening shows to breakfast slots.
