Yeah… nah

It’s certainly not an Australian expression I’ve heard… but it could be a regional thing.

There’s an older expression that “things are peachy” which means they’re good… but I wouldn’t say it’s widely used.

And as previously discussed “boss” is an American expression from the 60s meaning cool, first rate etc.

Having said that they would have market researched the names… so I guess they have some resonance with an Australian audience.

Frankly I don’t give a shit what they call the channels… if they have good shows I’ll watch.

That’s something I would hear from someone way older than me. Something like “isn’t she just a peach?” as in “isn’t she great?” would makes sense to me if I heard it. But like you said, it’s not Australian and it’s not common at all.

Well, I wouldn’t know since I’m not Australian

Would a channel named Peach have worked in the UK?

No.
It wouldn’t

The only context I’ve heard it in slang/colloquial terms is sport. “That’s a peach of a pass”, “Peach of a delivery to get him out”.

However, does it make any less sense than a lot of other channel names? I’d suggest not.

Speaking of slang, a channel with an SMS word wouldn’t totally surprise me

10rofl or 10lol for a comedy channel perhaps?

10 Channel McChannelFace?

Id rather Peach than an LCN number. (Not 10Peach though).

Too bad about the content on Peach. Did they actually announce anything for the channel? I haven’t watched 1 minute of that channel since they axed Simpsons.

Peach is just referring to everything being good, fun, perfect.

NZ Bands Broods have a new track titled “Peach” I haven’t watched any of Peach nor did I watch Eleven before hand but they should license that song as the channel promo

I’m very use to 10 Peach and 10 Boss already, despite my initial reservations.

I remember a WTF moment when Stan was announced. Now Stan is part of our household entertainment vernacular. “What’s on Stan?” is now up there with what’s on TV or Netflix.

Give it time.

You’ll be thrilled to know that’s exactly what they did

Agreed JBar. Was the perfect opportunity to put 10HD on LCN 1 and thus have single button entry on people’s remotes. Leave 10 SD on LCN 10 and prepare to use LCN 13 for another channel down the track.

I think a straight swap from ONE to BOSS and 11 to PEACH on the LCN front was done as the simplest and least confusing way to go about it.

I think 10HD will only move to LCN 10 when MPEG2 broadcasting ceases, and everything becomes MPEG4 HD, with no more SD simulcasts.

Seriously. What is there not to understand about 10 wanted to spread its brand across the channels as a unified platform. And also, using names like Peach and Boss rather than numbers to give them personality. Why is that strategy difficult to comprehend?

I didn’t know that Andrew Constance was now working in the television industry! :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
