There is certainly an issue there. When I asked a question about a story regarding a big return of a Neighbours favourite a while ago, the reply was that he had recently posed questions to Ten publicity about that show and others. But for some reason they had stopped replying to his emails and had pretty much stopped providing him with any info apart from generic press releases. So if they couldn’t be bothered providing info then neither could he.

PR people for media outlets and events can be the biggest pains imagineable.

At one place where I worked we were planning to cover some awards night, ARIAs, Logies or similar, I can’t remember which, and PR for the event was insisting we sign an agreement that we wouldn’t broadcast any results until the awards telecast had gone to air in the west… 2 hours after the live broadcast in the east!

Our showbiz reporter was anxious to go… but the decision was made to tell them to get stuffed and we’d report results off the live TV show if necessary.

Unbelievable arrogance… and as if any journalist would agree to that sort of embargo.

Photos and Studio 10 showed the entire light box being pulled off the main tower at Pyrmont. I presume you mean the large logo in the entrance foyer?

oh. yeah.

But wtf does Peach mean?

Isn’t the heart now inside the ‘0’ of the 10 logo?

it is

That might be one for Plato.

Personally, clingstones are my favourite.

It’s definitely weird. Not in a vulgar/American way. Just weird. Not sure if it will ever grow on people. Boss is just borderline acceptable and comparable with Mate.

Nothing negative about 10 BOSS on Twitter but nothing positive about 10 Peach.

It must be bloody difficult to find a name. I’m not a marketer but I’ll be fucked if I can think of an alternative name that is catchy and suitable for the audience they’re after (clearly female skewed despite them not admitting to it)

They should’ve engaged with their audience and held a competition to name these channels. They couldn’t possibly have come up with anything worse than 10Peach.

I realise it can be challenging finding a name that is unique, reflective of the content/audience and, importantly these days, available for social media handles and URLs. But “peach” doesn’t really tell me anything in a broad sense. “Boss” I can sort of understand but does the content reflect it and I’ve already given my 2 cents on them ditching “1” :expressionless:

And gotten what? TeeVee McChannelFace? Never underestimate the trolls. :joy:

Or how about Mountain Dew’s naming contest a few years back

PR people of all stripes can be the worst. There are, of course, many gems who will give you heads-up and background info, and others who are truly knowledgeable, but some get a power kick from their job.

If I had a dollar for every time I or someone I knew was shadow-banned or blanked or given the minimal treatment necessary because of some perceived slight … I would be richer than I am now.

Usually it’s the big companies or those riding really high that are the worst, which given Ten’s current state surprises me as to their actions. I can only imagine someone took offence to something David wrote on TV Tonight …

I’m not a fan of the rebranding of the two multichannels.

To me, the name Peach implies a female skewing channel and Boss seems to imply a male skewing channel. The branding seems to definitely match this, with ‘peach’ having a feminine looking font attached to it (which looks almost identical to the font used in the 9Honey logo) and ‘boss’ having a fairly square, blocky font which is commonly used for male-oriented things.

From what I can tell the schedules haven’t changed from when they were 11 and 1 so it seems to make no sense to me. I can understand the One rebrand to Boss because its programming was originally meant to be some macho thing with heaps of sport in the schedule (albeit diminished in recent years), but I certainly don’t understand the 11 rebrand to Peach. Was 11 a female focused channel? I certainly didn’t notice it if that was the case.

It seems that they’ve taken the strongest brand out of their multichannels and ditched it for no good reason.

Peach is apparently Aussie slang for something good or exciting, which kinda makes sense.
Boss is probably from the Internet slang “boss” meaning cool or awesome.

You know, my name for 11 would have been ×10. Simpler and it would work well on screen too.
Like you could add other words next to the logo. For example “Laughs ×10”, “Drama ×10”, “Fun ×10”, “Sexy ×10”
Plus it’s from the multiplication symbol as well.

I can honestly say I’ve never heard anyone use the word in that context. “wow that looks peach mate!” “I want that pizza, it was peach last time” “this itch can’t be peach”
