Network 10 2019

You’re right. It looks fine. But I don’t think it works as a brand. Especially not now.

Just want to say that despite personal opinions about shows, hosts and the like, how great is it to see a (hopefully resurgent) confident ten commissioning programs, giving aussies jobs and investing in getting variety back into our screens!
Yes not all the shows and personalities are going to appeal to everyone. Yes they are banking on some of the same names to deliver them eyeballs. But you can’t doubt the fact that CBS look to he giving this a great crack and we aren’t even at upfronts yet!!!

Just saying that I am quietly hopeful that there are a few successes in this raft of announcements and hopefully it can help ten to bridge the gap between itself and the top two and who knows, a couple of years from now they may even start challenging for the top spot!!!

Well they had to spend all this money on content when their $960m offer for cricket wasn’t accepted. Imagine them airing movies and Jamie Oliver all summer long. 4% audience shares. Let’s face they’re probably only going to get 10% with this new programming anyway.

By the way, is CBS All Access really all that? I mean… NCIS, CSI and Hawaii Five-O?? :fearful:

I don’t have Netflix but how does that remotely compete with Netflix?

But it’s an alternative to sports. I don’t think literally everyone is going to be watching sports in Summer.

If Ten doesn’t get decent shares because they don’t have live sports, then ABC and SBS might as well go off-air (Considering that they don’t get pretty shares in Summer either).

As much as I want a decent quality programming strategy on Ten for the Summer period to succeed, unfortunately I wouldn’t be overly surprised to see it fail because apart from sport and the odd seasonal program, during that time of year quite a lot of people tend to be on holidays, shopping, enjoying the longer afternoons/evenings, socialising with family/friends…basically doing anything except watching TV unless it’s 40 degrees or very rainy/stormy outside.

Exactly right @Pozpa! It’s incredible what new ownership can bring in just one year! An actual owner that doesn’t want to skin the life out of it like the previous dickheads! Good on ya CBS for breathing life back into LIVE variety tv and giving people jobs and enterainment back on free to air tv! Bring on 2019 to a new look TEN…or 10

Perhaps a reflection of previous non-ratings program strategies by networks? It seems that as soon as popular programs start (which can be anything up to 2 weeks before official ratings) the viewers suddenly reappear.

TV can still rate over summer. Although there’s a lot of factors at play (ie. specific days) cricket and things like World Idol rated it’s socks off. So there is an audience - but I suspect you have to drag them from the BBQ to the TV with “event” programming.

Credit where it’s due for giving Sunday Night Takeaway a go and I think resurrecting Dancing With the Stars is not a bad idea either. Changing Rooms looks uninspiring, Bachelor in Paradise coming back makes sense. Celeb too because the cupboard is so bare but it didn’t do that well this year and celeb/presenter fatigue could set in given companion shows.

Am I right in assuming all that’s changing in terms of this summer spin is the launch dates? The line-up will be launched two weeks earlier than normal in mid-January as opposed to the end of Jan?

I agree with this sentiment.

I have been messing with scheduling announcements already made, and I can fly a Boeing 747 through the gaping holes in the schedule still evident.

No circumventing paywalls please.

With this all year programming strategy, I’d like to see The Panel Christmas Night brought back (even if they had to pre-record).

It was ruined by the mandatory advertorials in the later years.

So last century.

So is Carols by Candlelight. So what?

That hasn’t been off the air for nearly 20 years. That’s what.

Sounds like Ten will work with CBS on The World’s Best

As opposed to Dancing with the Stars which was last relevant around 2007?

I’m not supporting the return of that either. I stopped watching it after a few seasons and wouldn’t consider watching a revival.
