Neighbours

I will say if this is indeed the end I hope that the show’s archive is put up on a service somewhere.

That plus they’re greedy and the content was ready to air so Paramount+ didn’t have to pay for production costs.

Though I wonder if Paramount+ foots the entire bill and they throw a bone of a game or two to entice viewers to the streamer. I think they would see that as an acceptable loss in order to gain more streaming costumers.

I doubt 10 could shoulder the financial burden solely itself with having the A League even if it’s a low tier pro sport.

Yes and I’m betting without the massive deal in place Neighbours would have ended there. Ever since it’s the red headed step child left to starve in the corner.

If they put Neighbours in the 6:30 slot on 10 at four days a week I’m sure it would get better numbers and demos than the 6:30 edition of The Project and they still get to keep the 7 pm pile of shit on air, it could even help it.

Basically how it was in 2009 and 2010 before Neighbours was dumped off the main channel. I have never liked The Project either and the smug laughter really grates of me. I don’t check the ratings section so I don’t know how The Project actually rates. Surely the numbers Neighbours was doing in 2010 wouldn’t be terrible in 2022 given the massive change in the TV climate.

OK, we get the message.

Writing has probably been on the wall for a while.

There’s been a lot made of how Neighbours was huge in the UK but that hasn’t been the case properly since the 1990s when the show and linear TV was probably in its hey-day. Obviously it was still made as a UK-prioritised project in recent times but it is long off the heights it scaled back in the day.

Very sad though if a renewal can’t be found elsewhere.

If neighbours ends what’s going to happen to 10 peach will it still air boring sitcom repeats or will channnel 10 program it differently

isn’t 10 Peach mostly all repeats now?

Outside of Neighbours, it’s all just reruns. For the most part that’s the way, 11/Peach has always been. They had The Loop for years as the only other first-run programming but that ended a couple of years ago.

They even had Toasted TV which too had been bumped from the main channel.

They no longer have any kids programming on Peach. The morning slots used to have all the kids programming but when Shake launched it was all moved there.

They had Couch time hosted by Labby and Stav in the afternoons years ago with Reruns and I think also some first run stuff.

Don’t remind me of those two and their unfunny comedy/banter

I think you will find its for the parent company CBS who don’t want to give them unlimited access to the piggy bank.

I think regardless if the show does get renewed it needs to move back to the main channel in some capacity. Its wasted on Peach and has been for a while. With the contract deal for 11 (now peach) now likely concluded about showing the program on there to bolster the channel for the CBS ouutput deal, it baffles me why they couldn’t move it.

If, maybe, possibly.

So no definite words that the show is getting the axe?

statement from Channel 5 in the UK that they will no longer air it. Silence from 10 and Fremantle so far.

Some very stressful news for all the cast and crew.

Clutching at straws, but I hope Fremantle can find a network to host the show.

No, But people are very much taking this as the end given how much of an afterthought the show is in Australia and how it pretty much relies on its UK screening to keep viable.

lets see if Fremantle can shop it around in the UK , other wise 10 wont be able to continue with neoghbours

Tv tonight have a article with a response from 10. It’s not axed yet. Blackbox are using clickbait headlines

A Network 10 spokesperson told TV Tonight , “As outlined in the email to Neighbours cast and crew, it is our intention to continue our association with Neighbours if another broadcast partner comes forward. Network 10 has an ongoing commitment to the show, the cast and crew and is hopeful that Fremantle will find a new production partner. We will provide further updates as they become available.”

Filming will not take place tomorrow as cast are given the details. Producers Fremantle advised cast via email to attend a meeting, after news broke in the UK over the weekend.
