An interesting read, but some of Geoff’s comments about what you could and couldn’t say in a G-rated show in the 80s aren’t quite accurate. For example, the word “pregnant” was definitely used in Neighbours, even by Clive himself. “Sex” was definitely mentioned by name on numerous occasions. Perhaps the reference to fake blood was accurate. To be honest, the G-rated shows like Neighbours mentioned issues like drug use, pregnancy, etc without any use of euphemisms. It was much later the rules apparently changed and ridiculous expressions like “party addiction” to mean alcoholism and drug abuse were brought in. If the intention was not to confuse kids, I think things like that have the opposite effect. How many children assumed Sonya was addicted to jelly and ice cream and playing Pass the Parcel rather than alcohol and drugs?! Thankfully Neighbours is now PG-rated - although it does mean we get painfully convoluted scenes like Gary being caught having Skype-sex!
That original photo shoot was released a while ago and it looks like they just used the photos from the shoot.
It’s a shame they haven’t featured the older cast members who have been with the show for decades.
Some of those photos are embarrassing because they don’t represent the character you see on the screen, ie I doubt you’d ever see Bea with curled hair and bright red shoes.
Agree about the other characters. Why on earth wouldn’t you have at least Karl and Susan on the stamps? They are better known than any of the cast in these shots (except maybe for Toadie). Clearly targeting the younger demographic.
Paul and Sheila also.
Odd that neither Karl, Susan, Paul, Sheila and Garry aren’t on the stamps. But according to the comments on TvTonight, Karl and Susan were on the stamps celebrating the shows 20th and 30th anniversary.
And also, cant wait for the “BIG WEEK” starting March 16. That’s when there will be the several weddings and deaths. Did I hear right on the ads that they’ll be one hour episodes too?
Yes. Double episodes for anniversary week.
Which hopefully they’ll show the following Sunday in the encore screening.
Sunday Herald Sun reports that Brand, who played himself, shot a scene on Friday afternoon alongside Ryan Moloney (Toadie). The producers heard Brand is a Neighbours fan and he is touring Australia, so they invited him to visit the set which in turn became a cameo.

One hour episodes next week, as mentioned before.
The additional episodes (at 7pm) are called “Neighbours: Endgame”. I assume these 5 episodes are titled differently, so they can add more episodes per year to 10Peach (and overseas), than in the contract?
I remember when they signed the last contract, they were to produce a certain number of night time specials, so it was always part of the deal.
Not sure if they’ll number them differently. The last time they did a night time special was when they had a bomb in the hotel. It was screened at night in the UK after a repeat of the episode screened earlier in the afternoon. Confusingly, the night time special was screened in Australia the next day, as an extended episode. It was not treated as a separate episode but officially part of the next episode.
Tip: one for Gogglebox ers… got to laught at that lol The drama of the additional five episodes centres around Elly Conway (Jodi Anasta) being whisked away to Pierce Greyson’s (Tim Robards) remote island glamping resort to celebrate her 35th birthday with a key group of her Ramsay Street friends.
Does the five “Neighbours: Endgame” episodes count towards the total number of Neighbours episodes?
Well we’ll have to see whether they are numbered as separate episodes. But even then, we can’t be sure. We don’t know whether they are contracted to produce five extra special episodes per year or whether there will be five less at the end of the year.
As I understand it, these episodes will be numbered 8320A and 8320B etc. Because there was no episode on New Years Eve, the Monday-Friday episodes do not run xxx1-xxx5, xxx6-xxx0 for the time being.
The UK is screening the specials again at 10pm UK Time
Further to her cameo in the Mardi Gras episode two weeks ago, Courtney Act is filming a longer guest stint on Neighbours.
